Orienteering race 1:47:06 [3] **** 5.2 km (20:36 / km) +90m 18:57 / km
shoes: Innovate 280

This race went much better for me than yesterday's. I loved those logging cuts (they were super awesome!) I kind of hit a low yesterday, so I just decided to take things slowly and just stay in contact with the map the whole time, because I really wasn't going to gain anything by trying to rush through the course. And this strategy actually worked. I was really careful and I only got lost once, and I actually discovered (after I found the control) that I was in the right place the whole time, I just didn't trust myself and thought I had made a mistake. On the whole, a much better day, especially because I was actually orienteering and using my head.

Orienteering race 2:08:48 [3] ***** 5.0 km (25:46 / km) +120m 23:00 / km
shoes: Innovate 280

This course was really hard for me, and I made mistakes on nearly every control. I think my main problem was I just wasn't running the course carefully. I kept going from control to control, thinking that everything was just going to come into focus for me, that I would suddenly understand things, and not really paying attention to the course at all. Of course this focus never came and I made huge terrible mistakes. I was also kind of running the course at an orange-level, taking really long (and not even necessarily safer) routes on trails when I could have taken routes using contours and point features like boulders. Being an idiot was also pretty costly, because I came in last. And I know I can orienteer better.

Treadmill Running 57:00 [4] 5.88 mi (9:42 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ariel

Went to the gym with Carina and did her workout (sort of). I was okay with the cardio parts, but then when she started working with the machines and weights and things I had no idea what to do and a lot of it was really hard! I guess I'd rather stick to running outside for my workouts, but going to the gym once in a while (maybe on rainy days) probably would be a good idea since it was actually pretty intense.

Cardio:
2 min walking
10 min running 8:57/mi
2 min walking
10 min running 8:42/mi
2 min walking
10 min running 8:34/mi

10 min running 8:49/mi
2 min walking
5 min running 9:00/mi
5 min cool down/stretching
