Orienteering race (Little Truckee Summit) 47:49 [4] ***** 6.44 km (7:25 / km) +137m 6:43 / km
20c shoes: Icebug Spirit2 OLX

Extremely technical middle distance A-meet courses at Little Truckee Summit. Made about 15 minutes worth of mistakes, most of them at three different controls (1, 14, 15). The terrain features were often very vague, necessitating fine compass navigation -- something I have little experience with.

Orienteering race (Donner Memorial) 14:56 [4] *** 3.02 km (4:57 / km) +70m 4:26 / km
20c shoes: Icebug Spirit2 OLX

A-meet Sprint event at Donner Memorial. No real mistakes except for two minor compass "deflections" (about 15 seconds each) where I veered slightly off course. The terrain was rocky, with a lot of boulders both large and small.

Orienteering race (Burton Creek) 37:43 [3] *** 6.27 km (6:01 / km) +83m 5:39 / km

Motala at Burton Creek. Technical intensity ranged from easy to very difficult. Loops A and D were set on terrain with trails and obvious handrails, while loops B and C involved taking rough compass headings across dense, vague, and/or featureless terrain. Deadfall and slash were a major annoyance, but they often made the head-to-head competition even more interesting.

Orienteering race (Spooner Lake) 1:25:00 [3] *** 9.07 km (9:22 / km) +447m 7:31 / km
18c shoes: Icebug Spirit2 OLX

Didn't go all-out because of the A-meet sprint event the next day. The terrain was sandy, rocky, and quite steep. I made a few navigational mistakes, mostly on parallel features.

Running the Red course from BAOC's July 14th Bayfront Park event. Lost about a minute or so looking for the ankle-high, annoyingly hard-to-find flags. The course was not navigationally difficult since I knew the terrain well, but the setter made it interesting by removing all park trails from the course map. There were also quite a few route choices and parallel features to keep track of.
