Note
(rest day)

Did a long walking tour of Lisbon today. I will fill in more information about my races later.

Note

In Lisbon for two days before heading to NAOM with Barb and Michael.
11 AM

Running warm up/down 11:34 [2] 1.07 mi (10:49 / mi)

Orienteering race 1:06:26 [4] 7.66 km (8:40 / km) +250m 7:27 / km

Finally, a good race! I came in second in my class even with a four minute mistake. I barely beat out Ms. Podium (Amanda), super proud of her!

9 AM

Running warm up/down 12:11 [3] 1.22 mi (9:57 / mi) +8m 9:45 / mi

Orienteering race 1:52:53 [3] 9.6 km (11:46 / km) +339m 10:00 / km

Pretty upset about this race. I had a clean run except for the first control (again), but this time it wasn't entirely my fault. I turned onto what I thought was the indistinct trail I was looking for but it turned out to be an elephant trail heading straight into a huge patch of thorns. I didn't realize until it was way too late and spent ten minutes detangling myself from the green. My shower today was quite painful... My legs and arms were completely torn up!

Day 2: Middle race
Much better than yesterday, but still not perfect.

Running warm up/down 4:52 [2] 0.4 mi (12:09 / mi)

4 PM

Orienteering 10:01 [2] 0.74 km (13:30 / km) +11m 12:34 / km

Walking/jogging around another model map. It was pretty boring compared to the two middles we had done before.

Running warm up/down 13:40 [2] 1.17 mi (11:40 / mi) +16m 11:11 / mi

Orienteering race 57:16 [3] 6.58 km (8:42 / km) +105m 8:04 / km

Day 1: Middle race
I had a huuuuge mistake to my first control. Like 15 minute 90 degree error. I realized what had happened pretty quickly but when I tried to recover I was angry and was running too fast and therefore I missed the control (by maybe 10 meters). So I had to relocate AGAIN and re-attack, thoroughly upset at that point. I took the rest of the course as a challenge to have a good race even after a really rough beginning. I had a surprisingly clean run. Without the first mistake I would've come in around Amanda aka second or third.
1 PM

Running warm up/down 8:52 [2] 0.74 mi (11:55 / mi) +14m 11:16 / mi

6 PM

Running warm up/down 8:53 [0] 0.72 mi (12:18 / mi) +39m 10:32 / mi

Orienteering race 23:42 [4] 3.54 km (6:42 / km) +112m 5:47 / km

Night Sprint

Running warm up/down 1:12 [2] 0.09 mi (13:03 / mi)

Does this even count as a cool down? I thought it was more important to get warm, dry clothes on.

Running warm up/down 4:05 [2] 0.44 mi (9:17 / mi) +3m 9:05 / mi

Orienteering 1:11:28 [3] 6.84 km (10:27 / km) +159m 9:22 / km

This was the "Warm Up Race". I took it as a training. I had a huuuuge mistake on my eleventh control which was the first control in the super detailed rocky area.
