Orienteering 2:58:15 [3] 17.24 km (10:20 / km) +141m 9:56 / km

Score O outside of Phoenix. I didn't wear any sort of ankle protection at all and went slowly and focused a lot on my footing. No issues today with my foot or ankle! I'm very happy.

My route is in green and you can see where I accidentally went to "dummy controls".

My legs are tired and I'm very sleepy. But first, a "quick" game of Scrabble and some ice cream.

Update: I won the Scrabble game :) but only because mom let me play traiting which is definitely not a word.

Hiking 1:10:00 [1] 4.22 km (16:35 / km)

So the fact that I was able to do this hike without assistance from crutches pretty much confirms that whatever was going on with my foot was not plantar fasciitis. I'm going to keep an eye on it over the next few days but I want to get back to my training ASAP.

Orienteering 2:02:25 [3] 12.69 km (9:39 / km) +300m 8:38 / km
(injured)

Super fun and beautiful course today over rolling hills of runnable-ish grassland! There were some spectacular views of the mountains. My legs felt really good the whole time and even on the hills! Breathing was steady. After I finished I didn't feel all that tired which was really surprising and also exciting. Only one problem... and it is kind of a big one. About halfway through the course the bottom of my left foot (the ankle-braced one) starting hurting BIG time. Downhills were painful and whenever I stepped on a rock the pain was excruciating. By the time the last few controls came around I was practically limping. I went to the hospital a few hours ago and they think I developed plantar fasciitis. I'm supposed to ice and elevate and take ibuprofen and compress. I really hope this goes away soon. Right now I'm on crutches and I can't put weight on it because it hurts so bad. Also I could've dropped at least ten minutes from my time today if this dumb foot thing hadn't been an issue.

Orienteering 37:53 [3] 6.11 km (6:12 / km) +4m 6:11 / km

Long sprint course on the University of Arizona campus. Thanks to Isak for the course design! My legs were a little tired from yesterday, but not sore at all this morning. Instead of flags at each control point we had to answer a very specific multiple choice question like who is the author of the poem written on the door?

Orienteering warm up/down 6:52 [3] 1.23 km (5:34 / km) +3m 5:30 / km

Easy course at warm up pace to wake up the brain.

Orienteering 25:42 [3] 2.23 km (11:32 / km) +21m 11:01 / km

This was a contour only course. We had to draw a simplified version of the contour only map and run with that. Pretty tough but I didn't have that many problems woohoo! I twisted my ankle twice though...

Orienteering 18:01 [3] 1.77 km (10:10 / km) +24m 9:31 / km

This was the second loop of the contour only course but we got to use the actual map and didn't have to rely on our artistic abilities.

Orienteering 41:24 [3] 5.19 km (7:59 / km) +69m 7:29 / km

Green course
2 PM

Orienteering 27:05 [3] 3.42 km (7:55 / km) +34m 7:33 / km

The circles were whited out on this course so we had to focus on what was around the control when we attacked. I got a new ankle brace today and I wore it during this exercise. I like it but we'll see how it feels after a full day of orienteering.
