Note

I took like a two in a half hour nap this afternoon and it was wonderful :)
8 AM

Agility 15:00 [2]

Running drills, hurdle drills, ladders
BBA

Strength 15:00 [2]

Kettle bell activities
11 AM

Orienteering 35:00 [3] 6.5 km (5:23 / km) +60m 5:09 / km
37c

Whoopsies I forgot my watch so this is based off of Emma's time.
Easy paced sprint intervals. We worked on different sprint principals for the first intervals and then the last one we combined them all based on the leg.
4 PM

Running warm up/down 8:59 [2] 0.8 mi (11:14 / mi) +23m 10:19 / mi

Orienteering 23:00 [4] 3.67 km (6:16 / km) +11m 6:10 / km
19c

Sprint intervals of just under a kilometer, and then a few minutes of rest between each. I included some of the rest time in my total time (light jogging), but took splits at the beginning and end of each interval so I'd know my actual pace. The goal was to run at 6:00/km pace. I ended up running around 5:00/km so I'm happy!

Core
10 AM

Orienteering warm up/down 12:19 [2] 1.19 km (10:22 / km) +20m 9:34 / km

Group warm up with one person leading and everyone else following along on their maps.

Orienteering 28:57 [2] 2.66 km (10:53 / km) +35m 10:12 / km
10c

The focus of this exercise was on distance estimation. I found it helped a lot actually, so I'm going to keep this as a focus for the rest of the training camp. I did 65-55, 54-49, 63-64.

Orienteering 25:20 [3] 2.59 km (9:48 / km)
5c

Emma, Sofie Bachmann (Swiss team member), and I did the last part of the training together. One would lead per leg, and at the end the others had to describe exactly where we went. We did controls 61-57 on the map above.
5 PM

Running warm up/down 8:21 [3] 0.6 mi (13:55 / mi) +13m 13:02 / mi

To the start through the woods.

Orienteering 32:59 [2] *** 2.54 km (12:58 / km) +24m 12:23 / km
8c

Took this training easy. We were in a very technical area and going at a slow pace was the thing to do. I had pretty much no issues! The focus was to visualize the control circle and have good flow into and out of each control, and I accomplished that.

Running 8:31 [2] 0.55 mi (15:30 / mi) +11m 14:36 / mi

Back to the car

8 AM

Agility 30:00 [1]

Some running drills, jumping, and kettle bell strength exercises. BBA
10 AM

Orienteering warm up/down 15:10 [3] 1.62 km (9:22 / km) +25m 8:42 / km

Our warm up was a relocation exercise where the leader would have the map and run for a few minutes and then trade off.

Orienteering 22:55 [2] 1.95 km (11:44 / km) +5m 11:35 / km
6c

This was a compass exercise where we did one leg at a time memorizing the point features we would see along the way, visualizing the control circle, and running only with the compass. Coming back we did very close map reading.

Orienteering warm up/down 13:03 [3] 1.43 km (9:06 / km) +4m 8:59 / km

Julia Emma and I warmed down together with another terrain run. Every two minutes we did a 15 second pick up running as hard as we could through the woods. There were a few face plants ;)
4 PM

Running warm up/down 5:21 [2] 0.56 mi (9:29 / mi) +14m 8:48 / mi

Orienteering 18:02 [4] 1.79 km (10:04 / km) +30m 9:17 / km

We ran two mock middle races at race speed.
I was doing more running than map reading, but my bobbles were pretty short (probably got lucky). I never found one of the controls, I'm not sure if it wasn't there or if I was in the wrong place, but navigating to my next control went perfectly.

Running 3:24 [2] 0.31 mi (11:05 / mi) +12m 9:53 / mi

Staying warm between the courses.

Orienteering 18:22 [4] 1.88 km (9:47 / km) +56m 8:31 / km

Another one!
I tried to plan out all of my routes this time, using the skills we practiced in the morning exercise rather than just running hard. Navigation felt better and smoother, but I still had some bobbles.

Running warm up/down 2:32 [2] 0.26 mi (9:36 / mi) +20m 7:46 / mi

8 PM

Stretching/Yoga 5:00 [0]

"Body maintenance" which is massaging and stretching and doing ankle strength.

Emma led us off with an amazing jump from almost the back row of the mass start to 153rd. Julia and Amanda continued to drop places leaving me off in a fun bunch of fast ladies to run the last leg. We ended at 132nd! So much fun, I loved running with these girls.
