Dreaded math midterm was today. Wish I hadn't missed the review the day before because I could've really used it.
On the bright side I managed to get rid of my sore throat and cough before Sage Stomp and over the weekend my sniffles have improved to the point where they are bearable without having to take medication for a runny nose.
A bearing exercise was the final training for the weekend. It was during this training that I noticed that I'm not nearly strong enough with my bearings as I had perceived myself to be. Even when going at a slow pace with the express purpose of staying on my bearing I still drifted. I'm going to practice looking up and picking points along my bearing and heading to them throughout the course.
The long race at Sage Stomp. It didn't go nearly as well as it should've for me. I think my biggest recurring mistake was that I wasn't following through/sticking to my initial compass bearing. I'd take a bearing as I left the control but then I wouldn't repeatedly check on that bearing to make sure I was staying on it. I often wound up drifting a lot and not hitting the features that I wanted to.
I'm going to make an effort to bring my compass running with me in order to practice checking on it while running/having a better spatial awareness for which direction is North at all times.

Relocation exercise a couple of hours after the long race. Relocation exercises are always a lot of fun and I really enjoy them; funny how relocating for training can be so much fun but when trying to do it in a race it can be so stressful.
Successfully relocating can be immensely satisfying though because it's easy to tell when you've done it right.
