Orienteering race (NOY 2) 54:18 [4] *** 6.5 km (8:21 / km) +400m 6:23 / km
ahr:174 max:185 spiked:12/24c shoes: Saucony Wave Blue

Had a really rough day. I had very little confidence on a majority of controls. Had major stuff ups on #7 and #8. I didn't pick a good feature from which to leave the track on #7 and was just high enough to miss it. Then lost a few minutes trying to figure out where I was. Glen caught me about the time that I figured out where I was (he had started 2 min after me). 7 to 8 should have been a really straightforward leg, but tried to run to hard to pass and leave Glen. So I grossly misjudged the distance (I finally noticed that it was 1:7500 when reading other peoples AP posts) and went looking for the control in the N creek. Of course, Glen ran past me as I was looking in the wrong creek. We continued to play leap frog all the way to the finish.

I consistently too low and also had difficulty reading the mapping of the bush. I'll do better next time!

Excellent long run! I was tired all day and thought that I was going to struggle, but once I got going it felt fantastic and my splits were really consistent.

Running intervals (5x800m) 31:58 [5] 5.84 km (5:28 / km) +173m 4:46 / km
ahr:160 max:187 (sick) shoes: Saucony Guide 5 Red

Was going to do 5x800m intervals, but half way through the third developed some intestinal issues. Decided better to bail out and try again another day which was a good decision!
