Orienteering race (NOY 6) 57:10 [5] *** 10.2 km (5:36 / km) +302m 4:53 / km

Had a pretty good run considering my hip, getting blisters and feeling like I haven't been orienteering in a long time.
Ran everything pretty cleanly until #11. As I thought the marked fence crossings were mandatory, I used them to get from #10 to #11. Ran just to the south of the small pond and then ran on a compass bearing. When I crossed the creek I knew I should have worked out exactly where I was (I crossed right next to a control for the short and moderate hard courses), but didn't and then saw a termite mound and ignored compass. This of course led to running to running in a big circle to check behind a bunch of termite mounds. Eventually I found the another control from the short and moderate hard courses. As it was on a termite mound, I figured it was one of the marked ones to the east of mine and that sorted me out.
On lucky #13, I managed to find the dry ditch and run it all the way to the bottom and then back up it a little, before realizing where I was. I did manage to stumble in to #14 (I did have help as Angus was leaving #14) and Angus also helped me sort out that I was starting to run in the wrong gully for #15.
Other than that, I did do a little zig-zagging to get to some controls where I could have gone more straight. Since the forest was so open all my pace was probably the best I've ever done on a bush event!
My hip was quite sore the rest of the day, but has pulled up pretty well today (Monday). I also got some pretty incredible blisters, I think because I had forgotten my ankle braces. I managed not to roll my ankles, so maybe I don't really need them.
