Orienteering race (SSS Warm-Up Kahiba) 46:17 [5] 9.3 km (4:59 / km)

Warm-up event was the same map as last year. The map didn't have many options so took the opposite route to last year with a few minor differences:

Last year: 1L-->3A via the road to the NW of 1L. This year 3A-->1L via the gap in the block NE of 1L. Verdict: This year was better! Alex was in front of me at 3A and I beat him to 1L.

Last year: 1A-->1E-->3B-->2L-->1K dropping 1G. This year 1K-->3B-->2L-->1G-->1A dropping 1E. Verdict: This year was better, because there was less total climb, I think. Alex actually picked up 1E between 1K and 3B, but I knew I wouldn't have the time or legs to get it.

Last year: Took the track option between 2A and 2J. This year: Took the road option. Verdict: Last year was better. Paul was just in front of me when he went in on the track and then popped out much further ahead of me at the control. We basically ran together from 2C to the finish and I was usually just a smidge faster than him.

Last year: Start-->2K-->2S-->3E. This year: 3E-->2K-->Finish. Verdict: Unsure. If you take the clockwise option, then you have to try for 2S at the start. If you take the anti-clockwise option, then it depends on your time. I'm fairly certain it was a good choice this time, as I was late by 1:17 and I don't think I could have included it in less than 1:45.

Overall, I would say I did better this year, as my final score was the same but in 2 minutes less time. I also reckon that I'm running slower this year than last!
