Clarinbridge Oyster Marathon
That's an experience which I may never get to have ever again - leading a race from the gun until about 500m to go when I slipped to second, following a total implosion in the last few kms.
But what an experience - ok, so my head was all over the place after running out front on my own for so long but the support from all the volunteers on course was fabulous.
Nutrition strategy: one gel 15 minutes before the race; one every 40 minutes until 2 hours in then through to the finish with no further nutrition. Water in small sips every 5km.
