Sunday Apr 16

Trail running warm up/down 5:00 [1]0.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia
Jog to the start. Quite unexpectedly my leg felt much better today than yesterday - I had actually thought it might be quite the opposite.
Orienteering race (7th place/43) 50:26 [3]*** 4.6 km (10:58 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia
JK Trophy, day 2 (Keldy)
Started off with good hopes of doing well in today´s race and was in 2nd place after two controls before blowing number three. Close to three minutes lost there in a stupid mistake and some of my ambitions went down the drain. Knowing that I couldn´t do very much in terms of running fast I tried to concentrate on orienteering instead. Without much luck obviously, since I still made a few more mistakes - adding another 4-5 minutes to the day´s total.
The same place and the same distance to the winner (43 min) as yesterday, but more disappointed due to more mistakes.
Moved up a couple of places in the total standings - held number three position for most of the day until I was finally pushed down from the podium into 4th.

Saturday Apr 15

Trail running warm up/down 10:00 [1]1.6 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia
Calf muscle didn't feel to great. Mix of very light jog and walk to the start - didn't really know what to expect from the day - hoping I could at least take the map and walk a couple of controls.
Orienteering race (7th place/49) 50:32 [3]*** 4.7 km (10:45 / km)
spiked:11/14c shoes: Brooks Cascadia
JK Trophy, day 1 (Ilkley Moor)
Once I left the start gate I got into running fairly quickly thinking I would be going for only a little while. Calf felt unexpectedly OK though, so I actually managed to finish the course - trying to take it a bit easy in the 'fast run' parts.
Orienteering was interesting but not very difficult - at least not at my pace. I only made a few minor mistakes along the way - losing a couple of minutes and dropping from a possible 2nd to 7th place - but my running speed wasn´t enough to be competitive in any way.
Considering my expectations of not being able to run at all I must be pleased with my over-all performance - but making those mistakes is always a bit annoying...

Event: JK 2006

Note
(rest day)
Rest and travel day:
Flying to London/Luton and driving from there up to Boston Spa for the JK Trophy. We could have made the Sprint training if we had really wanted to, but it would have been tight.

Thursday Apr 13

Note
(injured) (rest day)
Another rest day - lots of things to finish at work before going to UK. Then home packing and getting ready to leave in the evening for Ludvika to get closer to the airport - plane leaves tomorrow morning.
No change to my calf - it even feels a little worse today :(

Wednesday Apr 12

Note
(injured) (rest day)
Resting - waiting for a miracle to occur. Hoping to be able to run - or at least jog - on Saturday at JK.
Other club activities ((2:30:00)) 1:00 [0]
Taking Maria and Ebba to Skräddarbacken and the first Wednesday Youth Training of the season (White/Yellow group were around 20-25 kids tonight). Limited kitchen help in the club-house, but mostly just sitting around talking and waiting...

Tuesday Apr 11

Orienteering 37:00 [3]** 3.5 km (10:34 / km)
spiked:9/9c (injured) shoes: Brooks Cascadia
Now spring is finally on it´s way - weather has been sunny and warm the last few days - today +12C in the afternoon.
Training at Skräddarbacken: I ran Anders´ course (shortened) from the youth training in the week-end. Lots of snow of course, but orienteering was easy with mostly trail running and some route choice - only a few short legs through the terrain. Unfortunately I injured my left calf muscle again with less than one km left on the course, so I had to walk back. Same thing as two weeks ago - so I´ll have to rest for another couple of days. It´s uncertain if I will be able to actually run at JK, but at least I can take my map and walk around...

Monday Apr 10

Exercise bike 1:40:30 [2]40.84 km (2:28 / km)
24.5 km/h, level 5.
Watching some of the extra DVD-material from the 'Lord of the Rings'-trilogy.
