Sunday Apr 23

Note
Uppsala Möte, Long (OK Linné)
Wonderful day again, totally blue skies and +14C.
Despite my 'part success' yesterday I didn´t run today. Decided already last night that I wouldn´t start - resting my sore calf being the reason. Just like last week strangely enough it felt better again the day after 'running'.
I´ll have to look into this somehow and do something about it. I got a few suggestions today and yesterday from other runners having had similar problems.
All in all this has been a week of poor training - sore legs from the racing at JK and being a tourist in London didn´t help at all... Hope to do better next week with both some running (?) and exercise biking to keep in shape.

Orienteering race (31st place/47) 36:44 [2]**** 3.15 km (11:40 / km)
spiked:11/12c shoes: Brooks Cascadia
Uppsala Möte, Middle (IF Thor)
Wonderful day, sunny and blue skies - temperature around 14C.
Just like last week I intended to just get the map and maybe walk a few controls. My calf is still hurting and I had absolutely no hopes of running.
Nice walk to the start (only 400 m) - no warm-up - and then into the starting grid...
Well, what can you say? I started jogging to the starting point, kept going a little further... and it felt OK so I finished the course!
First time this year in snow-free terrain (in Sweden) and it was really nice to be out again. Orienteering was quite tricky with lots of detail. Going slow I had no major (or minor) problems. My only small mistake was going a little too far to the right on the 3rd control costing me maybe 45 sec's - the rest was close to perfect.
Tried my brand new FR305 for the first time (picked it up at the post-office in the morning) so I will be able to add a little more facts to some of my runs.

Thursday Apr 20

Road running 15:00 [1]3 km (5:00 / km)
(injured)
(In Anders´ shoes - my own were packed in the luggage at the airport)
Light morning run with Birgit in Hyde Park - turned into a walk after only 15 min when I strained my left calf muscle again. It had felt OK for a couple of days, but I guess walking around on the streets of London for two full days didn´t really help to fully recuperate from earlier injuries.

Note
(rest day)
JK Trophy, relay day (Bramham Park)
We hadn´t entered a team (a family team had been a possibility), but might have gone out watching the event. As it turned out in the morning Maria was sick with a fever, so we decided to drive straight through to London instead. It was raining most of the day so I guess it was better to sit in the car anyway...
