Walking down to Kronwaldas Park for the
WOC Sprint Qualifications that started at 9 AM. Very tight races on very running centered courses. All Swedes went through as expected. Only unexpected results were Ivan Sirakov and Frederic Tranchand missing the finals by just a few seconds in a very tight heat being just over 30 seconds behind the best time.
Latvian O-week, Day 1 **Sprint Riga**
Only Carl Henry and Burken ran in the spectator races - with Burken arriving by taxi from the Airport around 7 minutes before his start time (missed maybe 1.30).
Results, Day 1
After the spectator races we walked over to the Old Town for the
WOC Sprint Finals. Stopped on the way for some lunch and had to leave some of the huge portion of french fries to get to the start on time.
Exciting races as always - very close for the medals with Tove losing the gold (or Maja winning it) on the last two controls and Daniel H winning the mens by under two seconds ahead of Tim R.
Some controversy afterwards over the placing of the start flag and the final flag too close to each other with several competitors losing time "punching" the start before the correct control.
