Tuesday hike with the usual group - this time we were 71 participants, a new record!! - on the old trail (fäbodstig) between two small villages in the forest. It didn´t look too great in the morning with heavy rain at home but it cleared up and we had sun and blue skies the whole time. Trails were wet in the sometimes marshy landscape but rubber boots did the trick.
Lots of short stops filled with interesting information about the old times from our guide. He was born on one of the farms in the village some sixty years ago and had spent a lot of time and effort in the last five years restoring the old ways.
With some help he had restored an old charcoal burning ground with a traditional hut and also an old barn in a marsh were they harvested and dried peat. He had also broken new ground for the trail in some places and put out lots of signs to show the way.
