wow the weather was insane - got drenched just getting to the event and that was when i was trying to stay dry! - I think I was the last person stupid enough to sign up - lightning was hitting the area all around us and the thunder was swirling in all directions... I delayed my start until last possible moment - and thank you bom radar, you didn't lie - as I started the storm had pretty much cleared, not even real drizzle for a few minutes then just nice weather.
Shoes where soaked through and through which made my legs feel heavy though. Felt like a good run - added in points because I was up on my time budget, wasnt expecting ti to be a good run with the weather oh and a killer hang over.
Moving fairly well and eased back because I knew I had time. Annoyingly if I had pushed it and my course had allowed definitely had another km within the time limit maybe 1.5.
Even more annoyingly I had folded my map over a control near the start which was a 10 pointer which I could have 100% got with time to spare. SIGH it would have given me a few more spots on the score board as far as I can recall. #kickingselfstill.
Otherwise a really nice run.
My right (good) knee is getting progressively worse I am starting to think a scan is going to be inevitable at some point.
*edit
- I just realized that was the fastest I have gone in orienteering and here I am saying I had gas in the tank #happydays
- Also heavy shoes, probably didnt help the sore knee factor.
