Running (4km Loop) 20:45 [4] 4.04 km (5:08 / km) +32m 4:56 / km
ahr:169 max:180 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

So needed quite a few steps for my step count for today so went for a run.

Felt really good out the gate which was surprising and went at a reasonable pace early and managed to hold that pace - felt a few pockets of tired or energy drain but realised I was on a PB pace for the course so lifted out of those pretty quickly.

Finished strong good kick from crossing brockway to home.

Took almost a minute off my PB for the course (15th time ive run it) and 12s/km off my previous best pace.

Very happy with that for what was supposed to be a run to grab step count.

consequently ave and max hr higher than any other previous attempt... probably also because I am feeling reasonably unfit. which is strange given I just ran a pb ha!

right glute playing up still - think its got some weird compensating thing going on since I ripped left calf. speaking of which it was tight after but felt solid still.

Sub 5 min km is back within my sights for the first time in a long time. This is the fastest street run pace I have clocked on garmin which means in the last 3 years roughly?! sigh. so probably the fastest pace since I did my knee in 2010 - 6.5yrs nearly back to a 5min km. slack. but happy.

Orienteering race (Relays) 29:31 [4] 2.88 km (10:15 / km) +102m 8:42 / km
ahr:171 max:185 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3d M+

So in short - I havent run in 8 weeks and of those 8 weeks I have been sick/coughing up delightful thinks every day for the last 5.

My watch gave me an indication at the 10 minute mark of this by saying my recovery indicator is poor. I have never seen poor before even when i have flogged myself and then gone again straight away I got fair. so knew I was in bad shape. HR confirmed it.

Feeling bad by 4 but still had ok pace through until 7 then messed up and overshot 8 and wasted/lost over 5 minutes.

Rest of the course was ok even though I struggled a bit - should have been between 20 and 25 though.

2 PM

Orienteering race (Relays) 28:42 [3] 2.79 km (10:17 / km) +107m 8:38 / km
ahr:172 max:189 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3d M+

Felt better on the second run even though the big climb from 5-6 was a blow up and resulted int he next few legs being bad but no errors thankfully.

Watch told me HR monitor is low on battery - this surprises me since I got it at xmas! will see if I get the error again and need to get a new battery in or not.

Uneventful run - just getting rust out of system - lots of coughing and spitting required as lungs hopefully clearing themselves finally. guess I will know tomorrow.

Just for the hell of it going on a run tonight too.
8 PM

Running (Night Run) 1:25:31 [3] 9.81 km (8:43 / km) +171m 8:01 / km
ahr:152 max:177 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

So figured after not running for 8 weeks lets through in a 10k tonight with Wil.

bit of suburbia then hit southern bold park to try mop up some squares. looking likely I didnt take us in far enough to get the western ones so might only pickup 2 instead of 5. guess we will be revisiting another day!

Good fun though. back out via gold course and claremont lake and home - just shy of 10km.

Right glute pulling from get go but otherwise felt pretty good.
