Running (SR - South Lake Score) 47:23 [4] 8.28 km (5:43 / km) +63m 5:31 / km
ahr:184 max:171 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

Wil planned the course on the drive to South Lake. I told him 6 min km I was happy with so he decided to stretch me and put in about 8km. ended up being abit more than that. but I worked abit harder and had 5.45 ave. Felt like I could have finished in time but eased the pace mid course because I was unsure on pushing it the whole way.

Enjoyed the area - flat and fast - wish I was a bit fitter. Wil could have completed the course but he made a wrong turn and was out of my sight so I couldnt correct him so it looks like I beat him on score by 10 points because he missed a few controls and came in only a minute faster than me.

People seemingly drove slowly when they saw our headlamps which was nice.

All-in-all enjoyed it, probably a tad far planned but to be honest if I pushed harder probably could have got it - next time. Was a nice night run perfect temp for it.

Orienteering (Christmas Special) 58:32 [2] 5.2 km (11:15 / km) +38m 10:52 / km
ahr:145 max:178 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

A jog around the carine open space whilst hunting controls.Emma and Will came and walked around the lake and they enjoyed themselves too - was a lovely day for it.

Didnt hear all of ricky's intro/clues at start so only heard that there where words in the flags not that they where pointing to the location - so after the first flag just decided to run to anything I felt was a ricky style location for a control - I know I missed some in north because I purposely didnt go there - shin where sore as where knees - surprisingly after not doing much recently I expected that they would be all good.

A lot of guess work on the clues - took me a while to realise that the two clues where two different questions.

I did go a bit crazy at one point misread a sign placement and ran in towards the lake in the long grass... the thought of snakes and the sharp grass needles soon had me backing out of that stupidity then I saw the sign I was aiming for oops.

Enjoyed it despite the slow pace and minor pain - good seeing fletch back in town - he apologized for not running Gero SR yet - no biggie really, his been injured and its open a full year - im sure hell get to it - mind you his in perth for a few weeks so he might find some escape on the other 3 courses :P Also good to see the water bottles getting some use :)

Thanks to Ricky for setting up a novel event nice concept :)
