Orienteering race (Xmas Tree Creek - Long) 24:11 [3] 2.67 km (9:03 / km) +118m 7:25 / km
ahr:133 max:183 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3d M+

First bush orienteering I have done in ages - also brand new shoes I wanted to start breaking in.

Started well through 1-2-3 then hesitated by the river as to cross or not going to 4. Decided to cross and promptly turned slipped and ended in the drink.. grr. wasnt as cold as I was expecting.

5-6-7-8 all good legs but each time didn't hit it flush and had to do some hunting.

9 I went via the bridge which was slow to get too but was quick from it - I think ( waiting for splits ) but going via 11 would have been faster.

10 was near the bridge so was an easy grab - and 11 I hit well.

12-13 clean

14 overshot a bit
15 clean
16 dunked my foot into the stream before this leg - whoops but hit ti clean just shoe was very heavy and then finish.

I feel like I had a few minutes in mistakes in the middle of the course and running fitness let me down to the tune of a minute or 2 in general. But overall pretty happy with this race was nice to be out there.

Have to remember to check off items as I go because all the errors I made was not having contact with the map and what I was looking for rather just going.

Orienteering race (Xmas Tree Creek - Short) 22:28 [3] 2.0 km (11:14 / km) +94m 9:06 / km
ahr:145 max:176 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3d M+

Having done the first I felt comfortable in the area - however, the rain had really set in and despite trying my best to wait it out - just had to get out there in it.

1-2-3 where all straightforward and 2 I had been too before.

On the way to 4 I slipped on a rock and banged my head - it was stinging a fair bit but didnt think it was bad (now presents as 2 minor scratches) but it was enjoying to throw my focus off for 4 and 5 and I bumbled around in the rain getting frustrated - eventually realigned for 4 then promptly put myself into the green short of 5 and had to adjust to get my head back in the zone rather than focus on is it bleddign and how hard did I hit that because the rain is stinging. (again not that hard!)

6 was obvious as was a carbon copy leg - even though I took a slightly different line I missed the mistakes I had made previously.

7 is the split I am interested ina s rather than go to damn I went low and then across the field.
8-9-10-11 where all good and clean rain really set in had on way to 9 though. innersoles in the new shoes were moving around a bit at this point.

12 leg to 12 - disaster. halfway across the open field going at 4:29 according to the gps I landed wrong on left ankle and promptly rolled it really fucking badly again. I hit the deck and remained there for over a minute. Wasnt sure what the plan was now because I was in a lot of pain but it was raining hard and no one was around.

cup of hardening the fuck up and limped through 12-13-14 to finish as I didn't want to not complete and the damage was already done.

Was going to go to the BO social but really didn't feel like it after the second race so just got a dry top on and went home. Ankle still throbbing a few hours later - not a happy camper... didnt feel as bad as last time so hopefully it will spring back sooner as I really wanted to do the 24hr and go hard for it (end of month) but fear that may be off the cards now - see over the next few days.

Good session after dropped Thursday randomly

Glad I went early as Emma had something out tonight and realised at 630 which would have messed up my night session!

Struggled in a few places - but kinda expected that.

Back to the gym - up in some areas felt pretty bland - maybe I should have changed it up this cycle - oh well.
