Shoes feel good. Great even, if I'm feeling generous.

Easy Run 37:51 [3] 8.1 km (4:40 / km) +60m 4:30 / km

I decided to give the newbies a whirl, I can tell my feet aren't used to them yet but I still need to break them in a little. I might name this pair to get in that crowd. I need a little time to think of some bomb names because I don't want to get sick of 'em that quickly.

It was cold again, but this time I ran. I was considering wearing some nice sunglasses, but people kept saying I looked like an idiot. I hate to cave to peer pressure, but I do believe it was for the greater good. I'm also wearing tights though so I don't know how much of my dignity I can save at this point. Max's sister was basically wearing a disco ball, so I don't think I had the worst running outfit. At least I wasn't blinding the neighborhood.
I ate too much bread yesterday and today. And cheese. It coalesced strongly in my stomach, and it was quite a bother. Probably won't be making that mistake again.

I don't have a plan for tomorrow yet. I'll figure that out tomorrow. Hopefully I can find enough warm clothes to survive another run without killing myself or my future.

It's been a long time since I've played Settler's of Catan. Fun game, I recommend muchly.

Swimming 20:00 [3]

We were gonna go for a run at Willow but Max skidded off the road. I waited with him in the cold, we ran a lot of circles because it was so dang cold, my feet are against the heater to try and regain some semblance of feeling. I'm putting this here because I feel like a burned some fat trying to stay warm. I hope I get a proper run in later today.

[Edit:] Dang it.

Gimme a moment, it's so cold. Conditioning is still happening, but running should restart tomorrow. Theoretically. It depends.

Day 23

I thought the road was too obvious and they were trying to trick us. I might have taken the road in real life, maybe not, but I decided to go right. It was closer to the line, maybe it was actually very good. Nope.

Day 13

Drew out my route going left, looked at it for another minute, then deleted it and started over because the initial climb looked too steep. Went right-ish middle-ish instead the second time.

Note

I have a lot of homework to catch up on. I don't want to miss a running day but I think I need to sit down and work through all my homework so it stops piling up. It sucks and I feel guilty, but I'm back at it tomorrow with Max.

Day 9

Note

Adding orienteering stuff to my log on Monday after I get my GPS tracks uploaded

Orienteering 10:04 [4] 2.1 km (4:48 / km) +42m 4:21 / km
shoes: Adidas Supernova

First race of Saturday, smooth navigation and fast running.

Orienteering 12:01 [4] 2.4 km (5:00 / km) +46m 4:34 / km
shoes: Adidas Supernova

Mistake on one with inattentive compassing, lost a little time and was chasing people to two. Thought I was going to the right bushes from halfway through the leg and was planning ahead,, people caught up to me again because I had to correct. Another mistake to eight. Things calmed down after that. I chose to use my skip on number 17 instead of 18 because I felt like if I skipped 18, I would end up running a route that would take me by it anyway. By skipping 17, I would be able to take a better approach the big hill and avoid more climb.

Orienteering 12:32 [4] 2.5 km (5:01 / km) +40m 4:39 / km
shoes: Adidas Supernova

Hiccup to four, was navigating to five but caught it as I was passing near the control, did lose a bit of time though. Time lost on 17, I entered the bush further left than I thought and lost a bit of time looking for it. Bad route choice to 20, should have stayed left then dropped in, that would have been a much quicker route. Bad approach in 21, I can't say that I could find the white patch.

Orienteering 17:19 [4] 3.4 km (5:06 / km) +45m 4:47 / km

Chilly, dark night, but my navigation was pretty good. I was struggling to see the feature that 21 was on, I remember that pretty clearly. No notable mistakes.

Orienteering 15:58 [4] 3.3 km (4:50 / km) +39m 4:34 / km
shoes: Adidas Supernova

The GPS didn't line up very well. Navigation was good, this and the other one from today don't have my time based on punching because I don't remember those numbers. Good navigation again, I felt stronger than the first round, muscles felt looser.

Nice to see Canada on Day 5. Really tough leg, I snaked my way onto the trail on the right.

It's very very snowy and icy, we'll see how the run goes...

Note

Today's should be long run and tomorrow's my rest day, but a few things have changed that.

It finally snowed and I think it's good to stay for the week. It is frigid outside. It rained all last night and the roads are absolutely covered in black ice. Driving and running are both going to be a great struggle. Coming back from California is gonna suck.

Max can't run today, but he said that he'll run a long run with me tomorrow. That sounds very nice, so I'm going to do that tomorrow. That means we're changing to a quasi-rest day today. What that means, we'll see.

Route to Christmas Day 3

Didn't run along the roads and trails as much as Portin, but I think my route would have gotten a greenish-yellow. The runners dropped down the hill right after the start, I would have lost time staying high before hitting the road.

Easy Run 41:03 [3] 8.5 km (4:50 / km) +36m 4:44 / km
shoes: Adidas Supernova

I ate some nuts with Max yesterday. He is a nut fiend, I don't understand why or how it doesn't affect his running.

It was terrible. I did three pickups intending to do six, but after the third, my body was saying no. The nuts were hurting my butt and everything leading to it for a solid half of the run. The last two kilometers were particularly bad, it was a blur of pain but I think I was speaking to myself, shouting near the end, to try to distract myself. Not a pretty vision to imagine.

0/5 stars, wouldn't recommend to people with weak digestive systems like me. Never eating more than five nuts at a time from now on.

Swimming 10:00 [0]

Route to Christmas 1 and 2, went the slow way on both of them so hopefully I can redeem myself tomorrow. Looked at the course of the year, WOC middle (Canada placed second I think for the Manitoba map?), and last year's insane course of the year, tough map to read.

Oh no my arm chair and core are the same color :( fixed it
