Tuesday Feb 28

running long 1:00:20 [2]8.5 km (7:06 / km)
Molly came out with us again and we did the same loop as always. Except, my dad and I dropped her off at home while we went and did another 25min of a zone 3. It was a good last run of the month.

Monday Feb 27

Note
(rest day)
I think I've trained more then I've ever trained in one week!!! I think I deserve a good rest day to catch up on sleep...Zzz
school sports (King's Court and Fireball) 40:00 [1]
Oh wait, I did have a gym class today. We played some basketball and for the last 10min fireball, but in all it wasn't that phsically demanding.

Sunday Feb 26

running long 1:01:00 [2]9 km (6:47 / km)
It was super cold today!!! My hands were soooo cold!!! Wanted to do an hour and 1/2, but we would've been late for dinner. Did our usual route, but added about 5km on and did another loop. Tried to do The Hill a couple times, but it was like trying to climb up a skating rink.

Saturday Feb 25

orienteering (trail running) 55:00 [1]* 4.5 km (12:13 / km) +110m 10:53 / km
Went to Kanata Lakes after Music Fest. It was pretty cold and the same snow conditions as Meech Valley. Molly came with us this time and we had a lot of fun rolling down all of the hills. Didn't have the heart to run on some of the pristine x-country skiing tracks so had to run on the side of the trail some of the time.

Friday Feb 24

cycling hills 45:00 [3]
I was really glad that I pulled myself out of bed this morning at 6:00 because the class was awesome!!! We did an 8min hill, then a 5min hill, 3min, 1.5min, 45sec, and finally a 30sec hill. It was great!!!
skating 50:00 [2]6.0 mi (8:20 / mi)
For the second time this week we went to the Rideau Canal, but I didn't have a second beavertail. ;-) We forgot poor Ian's skates so he sat in the sled some of the time, but walked a bit too. Eric, Molly, and I cheered him up by falling over and stuff. It was a lot of fun.

Thursday Feb 23

school sports (game) 47:00 [2]
Was the second houseleague game of the season and all I can say is that our team really needs to work on covering everybody...
running tempo 29:45 [4]6.5 km (4:35 / km)
Did our usual route but sped it up a lot. We shaved five minutes off our last time. The beginning was pretty fast and it felt like we'd never get back home. But we did make it and it felt really good afterwards. Although my leg muscles are pretty sore.

Wednesday Feb 22

warm-up run/intervals intervals 42:26 [4]
slept:7.75
Did a 25min warm-up run and then went to The Block. It's a hill spanned over to blocks on our normal route. We sprinted from the bottom to the crest of the hill (about 2.5 blocks) and then did a slow jog down the other sid of The Block to where we started. Then we did it all over again 5 times!!!

Tuesday Feb 21

Note
Really tired this morning, woke up at 6:45 but fell back asleep and was nearly late for band. Oooops. Don't think I'll be able to get a run in today but maybe a shorter one later on tonight.
running long (trail running) 52:00 [2]7.5 km (6:56 / km)
I'm so glad we were able to get out running after-all because we took Molly and Eric out with us and they did really well!!! Molly was a real trooper and stuck it the whole way through. While she was running, she was thinking "I can't wait until I get into bed!!!" ;-)

Monday Feb 20

running long 1:00:00 [2]10 km (6:00 / km)
rhr:0 slept:8.5 weight:43.1kg
I almost rolled over this morning, but instead dragged myself out of bed and I don't regret it. It was beautiful running out there with the crisp air and the sun just coming up out the trees. Am I sounding poetic or what??? ;-)
skating (on the Canal) 1:18:00 [3]10 km (7:48 / km) +0m 7:48 / km
The ice was really good and the weather was really nice, but coming back was brutal because we were against the wind!!! It was still a lot of fun and I treated myself to a maple beaver tail!!! Yummy...
C • MMMM! 2
school sports (King's Court) 30:00 [2]
Did some skills before we played a game, but it was still pretty good. Getting ready for our test on Wednesday.

Sunday Feb 19

orienteering (wallowing through the sno) 1:00:00 [1]*** 2.5 km (24:00 / km) +100m 20:00 / km
spiked:2/3c slept:8.0
Winter in the Gatineau is something like 3 feet of snow and really cold temperatures. Well, at Meech Valley, it was about 3 feet of snow except with a layer of crusty ice on top. Trying to run through the woods is brutal with that kind of snow because you go through almost ever step. The advantage that I had though, was that I was lighter and most of the time, the snow supported me. We had planned out a whole route but had to alter it because of somebody's private property and snow-shoeing. The guy said that we couldn't go on their "specially groomed trails" but we weren't going to do a lot of trail running anyways. We had to further alter it because it would've taken us about 3 hours to get through it all!!! Downhill was especially brutal because you'd break through, your foot would go under the crust and then the edge would catch your ankle and man did it burn!!! I tried the "sliding down on your bum" route, but that was pretty painful too, especially when you broke through and caught the edge with that kind of speed. It took us an hour of trudging through the snow to do what??? THREE CONTROLS!!! Pathetic, well, maybe, but you weren't there to experience it!!! Well, I don't know when the next time we'll attempt to make one of those "little excursions" again, but I think I'll stick to the roads next week. :-)

Friday Feb 17

cycling long 50:00 [3]
It was endurance this week and I quite enjoyed it!!! I pushed myself a little more and it felt good.

Wednesday Feb 15

school sports (King's Court) 45:00 [2]
slept:10.0
At the beginning of gym, almost everybody was playing, but by the end there were only about 6 of us playing. It was sweet!!!

Tuesday Feb 14

running long 52:00 [2]11 km (4:44 / km)
We decided to do a longer run today, but still go at a pretty fast pace. It was a good run but I'm going to be sore tomorrow...

Monday Feb 13

running 34:00 [2]6.5 km (5:14 / km)
It was really slippery on the trails so we took a bit longer than usual, but I felt it in the knees a lot more. Haven't gone for a run since last Wednesday!!! :-O
school sports (pinball and fireball) 45:00 [4]
The zone kind of ranged from a zone 4 to a zone 1 but in fireball I was sweating!!! Although, pinball isn't a very physically demanding sport...

Sunday Feb 12

hiking (Klondike Derby) 2:30:00 [2]5 km (30:00 / km)
We had to pull a sled full of gear 5km for the Klondike Derby while doing different stations along the way. One of them was a slalom race which was a zone 3 or 4 but the rest was about a zone 2. We where outside all day, but we weren't pulling it for the whole time. And guess what??? Our team came first overall!!! Isn't that awesome???

Wednesday Feb 8

running long 25:00 [1]5 km (5:00 / km) +40m 4:48 / km
(rest day)
I had to go running all be myself this morning and I didn't like it very much. It's so lonely and you can only hear the sound of your own feet hitting the pavement. :-(
running 37:00 [1]5 km (7:24 / km)
It was the first I don't know what you'd call it, "meeting" for the Ottawa Junior Orienteering Program and it was pretty good. We talked about o-gear, setting goals, and winter-wear. Then we went for a run on the Britannia map.
We also went for a frosty afterwards, but SHHHHH, don't tell anyone!!! ;-)

Monday Feb 6

school sports 1:00:00 [1]
Played a lot of scrimages and did the lay-ups and stuff like that. Not too interesting...

Sunday Feb 5

running long 46:00 [2]8.5 km (5:25 / km)
Didn't have a chance to get out yesterday, so made today a bit longer. Really nice run although a bit windy and icey in some parts. I'm not sure if I like to go running in the morning or at night. The great thing about going at night is that you don't have to go through the pain of getting yourself out of bed!!!
;-)

Friday Feb 3

cycling long (endurance) 45:00 [2]
Had a couple hills this time, although wasn't too tough. Legs weren't too sore from yesterday.

Thursday Feb 2

running tempo 29:00 [3]6.5 km (4:28 / km) +62m 4:16 / km
Same old route as always, but shaved about 6 minutes off our time from yesterday. Did a much better 200m sprint in!!! About 30sec which is pretty good considering I had just rin 6.3km!!!

Wednesday Feb 1

running tempo 32:00 [2]6.5 km (4:55 / km) +60m 4:42 / km
slept:7.5
I was really tired when my dad got me up at 6:00am!!! But I got out there anyways. Really felt it this time in the muscles. Probably still trying to recover from the beep test yesterday.
school sports (lay-ups, scrimage, plays.) 1:00:00 [3]
The usual lay-ups, (that I mostly messed up) and the scrimage at the end. They're going to choose the team pretty soon!!!
school sports (King's Court) 25:00 [3]
Won three out of 5 games which a HUGE improvement from last time!!! Lots of fun though!!!
