Wednesday Feb 28

X-country skiing 1:15:00 [2]
Skiied the parkway all the way to the top of Pink Lake Hill and then to the actual Pink Lake only stopping once to fix my poles. That took 33min, and then we hopped onto a classic trail that was conveniently mostly downhill...by then it was 5:30 by then and I had to babysit at 6:00 so we turned on the jets and skiied really hard all the way back down the parkway. (The first part was zone 1, and the way back was zone 3, so I comprimised and put zone 2.)
Note
My "shin muscles" and my quads are really really sore, altough thankfully skiing didn't seem to aggravate them, or they we just always aggravated and I didn't notice after awhile...not too sure.

Tuesday Feb 27

running tempo 35:39 [3]
Dragged myself out of bed this morning to go for a run since I haven't gone for one in ages. My knees were a bit sore, but other than that it was pretty good. Beautiful day atleast which made it worthwhile too.
Note
I've had a really lazy 3 weeks so I guess this week I'll have to get back to my 7hrs goal. I'll also have to work up to 8 extra hours since I've been falling short...hehe.
warm-up run/intervals intervals 38:32 [4]
Ran down to the river as a warm-up and then I did 30sec sprinting and 30sec recovery all the way from Westboro Beach to Cartier Bridge and back. Pretty good run, although I'm very sore since I haven't done intervals in ages!!! I think tomorrow will be a spinning day... :P

Monday Feb 26

hiking hills 33:33 [4]
Tobogganing: the sport where you spend 3 minutes climbing the hill, and 20 seconds going down...

Sunday Feb 25

X-country skiing 1:25:00 [2]
Went to P3 again except went backcountry this time. Some pretty tough hills back there but still more fun than the parkway. Had to come back down Pink Lake Hill because it was too dark but it would've been really hard to come back along the trail.

Friday Feb 23

X-country skiing warm up/down 10:00 [1]
X-country skiing 3:00 [5]
Exhibition Relay race, super fast but still really crappy conditions, this time super cold though. Not sure what place NHS came in though...

Thursday Feb 22

X-country skiing race 19:14 [5]4.5 mi (4:15 / mi)
Sick race!!! The conditions were absolutely horrific because it was snowing really hard so your skis dragged in the snow going up the hills. I was #1 at OFSAA :P which doesn't actually mean I came first. But I was the very first person in all of OFSAA 2007 to start!!! Pretty sweet. And what's even better was that even though we were starting every 15sec, I was only passed by #2 which I found very surprising! Skied really really hard the whole way, and I even had a pretty unsloppy finish!!! :P

X-country skiing warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Wednesday Feb 21

X-country skiing 1:00:00 [2]9 km (6:40 / km)
Skiied my course twice at North Bay Nordic to try and figure out where to push it and where I could recover going down hill.

Tuesday Feb 20

Note
Heading up to North Bay for OFSAA early tomorrow morning. I'm really hoping I'll be able to get a run in and check out a little bit of this city called North Bay...hmmm. :P

Monday Feb 19

X-country skiing 1:15:00 [2]
Did the giant hill at P10 again but went a lot further than Keogan Cabin. Went all the way to Champlain Lookout and then back along the trail that goes past Shilly Shally!!! Fun ski down the hill except it was really windy and cold!!!

Sunday Feb 18

X-country skiing long 1:30:00 [2]
Went out to P16 which turned out to be an amazing ski. It was the first time that I've actually skiied on a trail (except for Nakkertok). It was sooo much nicer than the parkway!!!

Saturday Feb 17

strength 10:00 [5]
100 push ups
70 or 80 jump squats (can't remember...)

Thursday Feb 15

X-country skiing 1:15:00 [2]
Started at P10 and skiied all the way up the giant hill, ate dinner, and then skiied back down...woohoo

Monday Feb 12

X-country skiing warm up/down 20:00 [1]
Skiied my course minus the hill at the end.
X-country skiing race 10:03 [5]2.5 mi (4:01 / mi)
I was starting with the girl that had beat me by 16sec last race and about 500m into the race I passed her and then never saw her again. Really strong race this time even though a bunch of girls passed me about 1/2 way through. I managed to keep them in sight and I guess it helped a little bit. My finish was the sloppiest in the world, but I was going super hard. I was racing this junior boy except I was tripping over his skiies. I still beat him to the finish line though... hehe! I came 9th with the combined times and with the relay, 3 people a head of me qualified. Which made me techinically 6th which means a get to go to OFSAA!!! Yeah!!! North Bay here I come!!! :P
X-country skiing race (relay) 4:00 [5]1.0 mi (3:59 / mi)
Not sure of my exact time but I think it was close to that. My "for fun" relay team was pretty good and we were in first until I started going down the last hill. This guy fell right in the middle of the track and to go around I had to practically go off the edge and then I fell. Lost 2 places there which really bugs me but we still came 3rd. :)
skating 1:30:00 [3]
Skated all over the canal with the Scouts. While they were standing in lince at 5th Ave. I skated down to the next "station" and back, and then we skated to Patterson Creek and then all the way back to Dows Lake where we had started. Really cold with the wind going away from Dows Lake. Got a really good work out towing Ian and sometimes a few more people depending all the way back from the beaver tail stop.

Sunday Feb 11

X-country skiing 1:03:39 [2]
Skiied all the way to the bridge and back and I felt sooo much better than Friday. I don't know if it was the conditions or if I was just more rested, but I felt a lot stronger.

Saturday Feb 10

hiking 1:15:00 [1]
Klondike Derby woohoo. The venturers had both hot chocolate stands for the day and we had quite a blast. The only "unfun" part was hiking into our sites. I had to carry this 60lb (I don't actually know what it weighs, but shhh...) anyways it was really heavy and I had to cart it around everywhere. It made it worse since it kept getting easier for the people that had been carrying water since were using it up!!! :P (spent 9hrs outside today!!!)

Friday Feb 9

strength 23:00 [3]
100 push ups
100 jump squats
and a few random things that i did for a couple minutes...
X-country skiing long 1:11:07 [2]
Skated all the way to the top of Pink Lake Hill and it was my goal to not stop once on the hill and I did it!!! Yeah!!! But then I was super duper tired on the way back, althought the push ups and jump squats right before prabably didn't help...

Thursday Feb 8

orienteering (skating) 35:00 [3]**
8c
Did an orienteering course on the canal which was pretty cool since you couldn't actually get lost!!! We also had some extra questions like how many garbage cans there on the mapped part of the canal, or how much a cinnamon and sugar beavertail costs... pretty sick!

Wednesday Feb 7

X-country skiing warm up/down 30:00 [1]
Just skiied my course twice to get the feel for it and to figure out where to go hard and where I would be able to rest...
X-country skiing race 10:29 [5]2.5 km (4:12 / km)
I never thought that skiing 2.5km so fast would be so hard!!! I never ever skiied that hard in my life!!! I'm really happy with my time and I came 10th among all of the girls that were at the Nakkertok Race. Need to work on sprints and being able to go as fast but having more recover time. Some serious training to do on the weekend. My aim for Monday will be to get under 10min!!!

Tuesday Feb 6

Note
Due to a rather heavy semester, I'm bogged down with homework and other un-fun stuff... :(
Ski race tomorrow and unlike the last race, I only need to do 3km woohoo!!!!!!

Saturday Feb 3

skating 1:50:00 [1]15.8 km (6:58 / km)
Skated the whole canal with my bestest buddy which was tons of fun!!! :P

Thursday Feb 1

X-country skiing 1:10:00 [2]
Team practise today and 5 of us got to the top of Pink Lake Hill. Did most of it offsetting although for some parts my arms got really tired so I just tried to get a bit of glide to V2. Really snowy which was fun to ski through anyways.
Note
I put more glide wax on my ski last night, but I wasn't sure how much of the ski I was supposed to put it on. Any specific guidelines or what???
