orienteering race (last score-o) 48:00 [3]***
spiked:19/20c
The last score-o and race of the season and I did really well. I had a bit of trouble choosing my route, but the one that I finally did choose turned out to be really good because I won!!! I'm going to be suffering from orienteering withdrawl pretty soon because I think my next meet is the Canadians in August. :'(

Sunday Jun 25

running 40:30 [3]
It was really really humid in the woods but atleast the sun wasn't baking us like yesterday. Went practically the same way as last time except didn't go through the muddy spots.

Saturday Jun 24

running 1:05:00 [3]
We haven't been running in a while, so it was good to get out, but it was still really hot. Ran into some poison ivy, lots of mud and water, and more poison ivy. Lovely...

Friday Jun 23

stairs 30:00 [5]
We went to the Montmorency Falls and to get to the top, there were 478 stairs. I went up part, then down to a look-out point and then all the way to the top. It was so much fun that I wanted to do it again. So I went down a couple flights and then up to the top again. YAY!!!

Tuesday Jun 20

orienteering race (4th score-o) 59:00 [4]*****
spiked:12/14c
I've never orienteered on this map before, but it wasn't a lot of fun. It reminded me of the U.S. Champs in Albany becuase of the big hills and deep re-entrants. Also, the vegetation on the map was really out of date. Yellow on the map, was actually white, and even green in some spots. So you can imagine what green on the map would be in real life. Got all of the controls that I needed to get and was 1 minute early but had some trouble on 9, (which I never found.) I was running through a clearing early in the race and when I look down I give a gasp of terror. And it's not because I'm stepping on the pretty wild flowers. I'm running through a field of poison ivy!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Saturday Jun 17

ultimate 2:00:00 [3]
We were playing the smost sick game of ultimate ever with some youth from church. It was sooooo hot, but it was such awesome playing (except for the sun)

Friday Jun 16

Note
I haven't gone running in ages and I'm feeling a little bit of withdrawl. But it's so hot I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it that much...

Tuesday Jun 13

orienteering race (score-o) 1:02:00 [4]***
spiked:14/16c
This was my first score-o of the year, but there's been two other score-o's before this but I haven't been here. It wasn't a spectacular race but I felt good running. Not intentionally, I crossed an uncrossable swamp in the wrong direction of the control, but that was my only mistake. Then I just ran out of time, so that's why I was 2min late. I had a really good start, I was actually in the front, but I almost missed the trail because I was trying to get used to the map. Didn't place too well, but I don't qualify anyways because I've missed 2 races.

Saturday Jun 10

canoeing (portaging too) 3:00:00 [2]10 km (18:00 / km)
We went on a canoe camp with the scouts and so it wasn't like running or anything. But now I've got super muscles in my arms and a big bruise on the back of my neck. There was one 450m portage and it was brutal!!! I didn't have any padding, so it was just the 65lb canoe, and then my neck. Very painful!!!

Friday Jun 9

school sports 45:00 [3]
In gym we had a supply teacher so we played german pinball which totally sucked!!! After that though, we played fireball which is actually a very intense sport. I was sweating really hard which was really disgusting, almost about as much as during a run or an orienteering race!!!

Wednesday Jun 7

school sports (soccer) 45:00 [3]
Played soccer in gym against the other class but it was 6 against 15. And even though we were totally outnumbered, we still tied them 2-2 though!!! It was really really hot!!!

Sunday Jun 4

orienteering race (long) 1:43:36 [3]***** 9.1 km (11:23 / km)
spiked:13/16c
It was a long, very long, but awesome course to rap up my trip. The first 3 control went really smoothly, no mistakes at all!!! Then there's control 4. Well. I guess all I should say is that I ended up at control 9 instead. Not good. Control 5 and 6 were good, I took it carefully after my 26min flameout on the previous control. Control 7 was just a stupid mistake because of parallel features but the rest of my race went really well. It was kind of surprising because I was pretty tired because of all of that running around aimlessly, but I did really well. I caught up to Louise, well, actually, she had passed me and then I kind of, I don't know what you call it but by that time she was 20min ahead of me. I passed her and kept my lead for the last few controls. There were two kind of bingo controls that I was afraid that I'd mess up, but I did fine on them. And surprisingly enough, I still came in with a pretty good time.

Saturday Jun 3

orienteering race (middle distance) 48:39 [4]***
spiked:8/12c
This race didn't go so well. Right at the beginning, I was running and I wasn't really sure where I was going. Control was just a stupid mistake where I wasn't reading the map correctly and then control 5 I was trying to keep up to the elites and ran past it. After those controls though, my race picked up and the rest was pretty good. Finish split was really good!!!
orienteering race (sprint 2) 19:57 [5]***
spiked:11/12c
I killed this course soooo bad!!! It was much better than the morning!!! Control 1 I took a really good route choice, through a corridor of white!!! I was a bit confused with the map because it looked like the trail was marked as a road, but I figured it out. All the rest of the controls went really well and I went at a pretty good pace the whole time.

Friday Jun 2

Event: Barebones 2006 & Team Trials

orienteering race (sprint) 25:01 [5]**** 2.5 km (10:00 / km)
Had the first sprint on Friday night and I didn't do too badly. Made a mistake on control 3 where I ended up at 4, but that wasn't too bad. And then control 9 I was on the wrong side of the green. It was so hot too!!! I was parched by control 2!!!
stairs 30:00 [3]
We went to the water park at the West Edmonton Mall and spent pratically the whole 4hrs on the slides. Which meant that we had to climb up a whole lot of stairs. Very tiring but good training!!!
