Sunday Apr 22 | ||
| orienteering 1:23:00 [3] | ||
| One minute faster than yesterday, plus it was longer today!!! Had an awesome race, and managed to go a lot faster at the end!!! Just made a mistake at control 8 where I wasn't sure where I was, so I went back to relocate and I think it ended up that I was just about 20m from where the control actually was!!! grr... Had an absolutely beautiful control 3. It was one of the longer ones and I had the best route there...along the swamp, through the re-entrant, up the stream, and then slowly into the control, and I was standing on a cliff, I looked down, and there it was!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!! :P (Beat my dad by a minute and 10sec.) | ||
Saturday Apr 21 | ||
| Event: HVO A-Meet | ||
| orienteering race 1:24:00 [3] | ||
| First race and we had beautiful weather and the terrain was amazing!!! Messed up on the first control, must've run right past it cause I kinda recognized the area...Anyways, took it a lot slower for the next controls so that I could get into the map better. Felt really good cause I'd be running, and be able to say "ok the control is going to be on the other side of that boulder." And it was!!! Had an iffy route choice to control 5 (ended up doing a little bit of rock climbing...) so I had a pretty great race!!! | ||
Thursday Apr 19 | ||
| running 2:41 [5]0.8 km (3:21 / km) | ||
| The 800m run is sooo fast!!! My throat was burning by the end but I didn't have a bad race. Pretty good start and I ended up coming 4th!!! | ||
| C • Way to go speedy! 1 | ||
| running 12:16 [5]3 km (4:05 / km) | ||
| Had a really good 3km race although I think I could've pushed a bit harder. The midgets, juniors, and seniors all raced together so it was hard to tell how you were doing compared to your age group. Had enough left for a sick sprint into the finish. Afterwards, the coach told me that I should be dead tired after a race like that, so I'm not running hard enough!!! :P Guess I'll have to push myself more then...
Oh ya, ended up 3rd!!!! | ||
| running 1:00 [5]0.4 mi (2:29 / mi) | ||
| Totally guessing my time there, but I was the 400m runner in the medley. I think that's the hardest I've ever gone doing a whole lap around the track, which felt good but we came last in our heat anyways. We didn't have much of a chance though because we were running up with the juniors and against to A teams!!! | ||
Wednesday Apr 18 | ||
| running warm up/down 25:00 [1] | ||
| Went to track before band, but only got to stay for the warm ups and techinique training...not that fun | ||
| running 50:00 [3] | ||
| Had another track practise after school and I was the only girl with 5 other guys and the coach. Did a 1.5km warm up and then a bunch of technique that was really weird but it was still hard. Then, we played Lap the Old Man!!! The hardest training ever!!! You have to lap the "old man" who's running slowly but it's still super hard and tiring. On our cool down talked about some very um interesting topics seeing as there were 5 guys there...won't say anything else though!!! :P | ||
| orienteering 1:30:00 [2] | ||
| Did 2 different courses on Dick Bell park and Andrew Hayden working on control taking. Didn't go to fast cause I was kinda burned out from lapping the old man, but it was good since I could slow down, figure out where I was going and then "punch" the control and then take off!!! Afterwards we did a really fun but confusing relay where we had to pick up letters that would from a sentence. SENS WIN THE STANLEY CUP | ||
| C • Hammer must not have read your log recently 2 | ||
Tuesday Apr 17 | ||
| school sports (track) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| Ran down to the Notre Dame track and did 2 laps as a warm up. Then some stretching on some techinique. Did a bunch of 200m dashes going from about 60% all the up to full out and then back. | ||
| Note | ||
| Went to football halfway through band, but I had missed all of thecardio stuff so we just did some football plays which doesn't really count as training. | ||
Monday Apr 16 | ||
| school sports (track) 45:00 [2] | ||
| Ran around the school twice and then did stretching, bikes, hurdles, strength... | ||
| running (track) 30:00 [4] | ||
| There were only 3 of us at track practise and there wasn't even a coach so we made up our own practise!!! We'll run around the school until somebody collapses!!! :P
Played kinda follow the leader so just ran randomly around the school for a while. When it was my turn to lead, I tried to run up the hardest and longest staircases I could find which got a few groans out of the other 2 guys. MUHAHAHA!!!!! Kept running through the hallway where the ping pong club was playing which got them pretty pissed off... woopse...
| running warm up/down 5:00 [2] | ||
| Cool-down around the block...kinda wet. | ||
Sunday Apr 15 | ||
| hiking 45:00 [1] | ||
| Hiked the 3km out to the cars in the rain. Very, very, very wet!!!!!! | ||
Saturday Apr 14 | ||
| hiking 3:00:00 [1]15 km (12:00 / km) | ||
| Hiked from the first campsite on Mosquito Lake, to the next one on Lindsey Lake. Finally got onto the real trail, but we had lunch on the old railway track. Bag isn't too heavy, and it was actually kinda sunny this morning, until it clouded over... :( atleast it's not raining...yet. | ||
Friday Apr 13 | ||
| hiking 35:00 [1] | ||
| Not sure of our actual time, not even sure of how far we hiked, but it wasn't too far. All on the road too. Had a bit of trouble finding the right private road, there are lots and lots to choose from!!!!! Raining...woohoo!!! | ||
| cycling 45:00 [1] | ||
| Endurance class which was good cause my calfs were uber cramped for some reason!?! Got all the kinks out. | ||
Wednesday Apr 11 | ||
| running warm up/down (track) 25:00 [1] | ||
| Went to track before band but only got to do the warm-up and stretch before I had to run back to the school. :( | ||
| running 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| First Junior Orienteering Training event thingymadooer and it was tons of fun, but uber cold!!!!!!! We were at Vincent Massy, so we did our warm-up with a run over to Mount Mooney and a few runs up and down to keep warm. Then we did this awesome but really tough obstacle course on the side of the hill. We ran down avoiding the hoops, then switchbacks along the bottom before running up the steepest part of the hill. We then ran through a mini "forest" and over 2 "hurdles". Then there was a sprint through the clear space before making a u-turn into the trees. And these were like fight-your-way-through-the-wall-of-spikey-pine-needles. We must've looked pretty funny, but it was like running through dark green!!! We finished off the course by running across a plank and then under 2 other hurdles and then a final sprint up the hill again. My times were 1.23, 1.19, and then 1.18
| ||
| orienteering 30:00 [2] | ||
| After the course, we did a relay with 2 other people where the first person would take the actual control with them and put it in the right spot. Then the next person would go out and find the control, pick it up, and put it in the next control spot. It went on like that except the advanced people had to do it without a map. We were allowed to look at it before we left, but we couldn't take it with us. It was pretty challenging and I put the control in the wrong spot, but that was cause instead of finding a small swamp, the whole depression was full of water. I couldn't find the boulder anywhere, so I just stuck it on a tree... :P
Finished off with some chocolate milk and cookies!!! YUMMY!!!!!
Tuesday Apr 10 | ||
| running (track) 1:00:00 [4] | ||
| Ran down to the Notre Dame track and did 2 laps as a warm-up, then some stretching and "form thingymadooers". Then the long-distance runners did 400m sprints/laps in pairs. That got pretty tough after awhile but it was still good to try running on a track. The only problem was that the baton was metal and it was uber cold, so our hands got really really cold. Finished off with one fast lap, and then a cool-off lap and the run back to Nepean. | ||
Monday Apr 9 | ||
| orienteering 1:40:00 [2] | ||
| Went back to Cité des Jeunes, but just played around in the lower part of the map instead of doing the permanent course again. Some parts of the map was uber confusing or was just not mapped right, but it was still lots of fun!!! | ||
Sunday Apr 8 | ||
| strength 30:00 [4] | ||
| Had my own personal trainer (Molly) for about 10min of my workout which was fun. She really kept me going for most of it while I helped her with her math homework. Did lots of jumping jacks, 50 push-ups, a bunch of sit-ups...
Then on my own I ran around the house, did some planks and crunches and lunges. Fun fun fun!!!
Friday Apr 6 | ||
| orienteering 1:10:00 [2] | ||
| Finally got back out into the woods to do some training!!! Didn't go too hard cause I didn't want to re-injure my knee or ankle, but I did end up giving them a few little shocks cause of all of the rocks. My only mistake was control 5 with all of those parallel hills that always get me!!! My legs were uber sore from all of those squats and lunges yesterday, but it wasn't too bad running, although the hills were a bit achey. ;-) | ||
Thursday Apr 5 | ||
| running (track) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| Did a lot of running this time around. Did a warm-up, some stretching, then some baton passing exercises. Then the uber tough part came and we sprinted up and down this hill a bunch of times. It was in the snow too!!!! :O :P
Finished up with a cool down.
| school sports (football) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| Pretty intense football practise!!!! Did a lot of cardio (push-ups, crunches, squats, lunges, shuffles, laps...) Then we threw some footballs around and practised throwing and catching. | ||
Tuesday Apr 3 | ||
| running 32:27 [3] | ||
| My speed varied quite a bit since I was running alone and trying to do a speed run. So I'd start out fast, slow down, relize it and go faster...the whole run went like that...Had a giant fight with myself trying to decide whether to get up or not to go running. Decided that I wasn't that tired after waking up and falling asleep a few times and I guess I'm glad that I did get up. :P | ||
| Note | ||
| I really hope that I'll be able to make track tomorrow after school but I have to go to the eye doctor for the yearly check-up. And since my mum doesn't drive on the highway, it takes a friggin 45min to get there instead of 20!!!! | ||
Monday Apr 2 | ||
| running (run in the rain) 31:07 [2] | ||
| Nothing is gloomier than having to wake up early on a rainy Monday morning!!! I did anyways though and dragged myself out the door for a quick run. Near the end I got caught in a bit of a down pour so I got drenched there, but at the beginning it was ok. Hopefully my running shoes will be dry by tonight's track practise... | ||
| school sports (track) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| Did a lot more running this time, one warm up lap, then 2 really hard and longer laps, and finally a cool down lap. In between all of those laps, we did stretching, and some really weird core work-outs...atleast it wasn't raining!!! | ||
