Saturday Jun 30

orienteering (biking) 1:45:00 [3]
biked into the trails and then went trail running

Tuesday Jun 26

orienteering (score-o) 52:00 [3]
Last score-o of the summer solstice and it was sooo hot!!! I made a few weird route choices that involved a lot of back-tracking, but I don't think I lost too much time, I just got really tired. Near the end, I just wanted to curl up on the trail and wait till it rained, snowed, hailed...ANYTHING!!! But I knew I had to keep going so I just went at about the speed of a snail. Was the first one back with all of the controls with my handicap, which put me in first for the whole series!!!!!! Had trouble choosing a prize cause there were so many, but I ended up with a seal-bag-thingymadooer...it's cool anyways!!!

Sunday Jun 24

running 1:30:00 [4]
Ran THE LOOP w/ my dad while Molly, Eric, Ian, and my cousin Maddy were on bikes. Was quite an adventure!!! Ian broke down because of the deer flies and because he was afraid of falling. Had to give him a few, well, actually a lot of pushes up the hills and motivation to keep going. I pushed Maddy up almost all of the hills and then got her down the hills aswell. Ian took a pretty bad wipe out on a bunch of rocks, but we got him back on the bike after a few minutes. After we got out to the road, it was free sailing for them, but we still had to run. Kept up a pretty good pace although the whole way I had to keep telling myself not to stop. Definitely a character builder for all of us!!!

Saturday Jun 23

running 1:11:00 [3]
Ran around in the woods for a while although the map was weird and so was hard to keep on a straight bearing.

Tuesday Jun 19

orienteering (score-o) 33:00 [4]
4th meet of the Summer Solstice. It poured even before we had started, but atleast that was better than being hot and muggy. Stayed with the lead pack for most of the way, although I'd be able to run fast on trails, but then make little mistakes close to the control. Lost a lot of time collectively, but since I had a handicap of 4, I won by 9min.

Sunday Jun 17

Note
exams... 'sigh'

Friday Jun 15

Event: Nav-Stock

Thursday Jun 14

running 55:00 [3]
My legs didn't feel like moving and my nose was like a leaky faucet. Oh yeh, I got a fly up my nose, which probably explains the leaking, and I kinda took us for a big of a bush-wacking detour, and when my dad and I went to go pick up the truck, he forgot the bag with the o-shoes, maps, and his compass in the office...but was a great run anyways :P

Monday Jun 11

running (trail running) 1:00:00 [3]
Went back to the part of Gatineau where we had gotten lost before except we ran on the trails, the zillions of trails. It was sick because we'd just start running and then when a junction came, we'd take whichever trail we wanted. Such a jackpot of trails that it'd be really neat to see a map of the area.

Saturday Jun 9

orienteering 4:20:00 [3]
Orienteering training camp up at Lac Phillipe. Started off with a contour reading excercise where every single control was in a re-entrant. Did pretty well, made a few mistakes, but finished it in a bout 35min. Next one was really neat, went in partners, the odd numbered controls, we'd hang a ribbon, and then meet up with our partners on the even numbered controls. Then go backwards and pick up the other person's ribbons. That was a blast, and finished in about 40min. After lunch, I took a group back to the same spot while some other people went to go look for a girl who had gottne lost for about 2hrs now. That went well, but then the girl got found, and they were still out there yelling, so I went out and blew my brains out on my whistle pretending to be the girl so they'd come and find me. Only worked for one person unfortunately, but everybody else got a good run in, including me!! Picked up the controls afterwards which wasn't a lot of fun because no matter how fast I ran, the deer flies followed me!!! Such a pain, that buzzing cloud of flies!!!!! A swim once we got back to the beach was definitely welcoming.

Friday Jun 8

ultimate 55:00 [1]
Band is over, so I got to stay for the whole practise which was awesome. Played a big game, I was on one team for half, but then a player left, so I was on the other team which was way more fun!!! I got passed to a lot more, and one of the guys smells really good!!!! :P
cycling 20:00 [3]
Biked to the mall and back with Molly... really fast cause we only had 30min!

Thursday Jun 7

running (51:17) 51:17 [2]10 km (5:08 / km)
Didn't really feel like running, but did the 10km route anyways...
orienteering 2:10:00 [1]
Went to Keogon to check out the woods where the training camp was going to be, and boy was it ever thick!!! It was sooooo hard to see, and even harder to run. Spent a whole 2hrs slogging around in the bush trying to figure out the woods. A few acceptable spots, but they were scarce.
running 8:30 [4]
Trail run back to the parking lot, the only good workout we got from the orienteering.

Tuesday Jun 5

orienteering race 43:00 [3]
At Rockcliff which was fun since we got to run past all of the ginormous houses. Had a much better route than last week, and was actually able to find all of the control cirlces on the map. Skipped the 2 farthest ones, one by the lake, and then the last one in the middle of the street section. Was the first one back...ran throught poison ivy though...the second time this week.

Sunday Jun 3

orienteering 1:40:00 [3]
Had the best run in Gatineau Park yet. It started out as a trail run, but we abandonned that idea after the trail kinda ended. Ran aimlessly (well kind of, we contoured around to Pink Lake Hill) without a map or compass just kinda checking out the woods. Ran through some random patches of poison ivy that were in a weird spot, got totally lost trying to find the parking lot, and then came out on this road with giant houses. Had to run all the way down to the highway...then to the parkway...and then up a few hills to the parking lot. A sick run...just a bit longer than expected.

Friday Jun 1

running warm up/down 20:00 [1]
warm up around track, some barrier practise, and stretching before steeplechase
running race 5:48 [5]1.5 km (3:52 / km) vdot: 46.1
Man, there are some very big gr 12 girls in that race!!! It was an open race, so there are very few midgets (like me) that actually make it to EOSSAA. I didn't have high hopes on making it to OFSSAA, so I didn't push it too hard. It was a really fun race, and I didn't come last!!!! :P 10th out of 16!!!
running race 5:11 [5]1.5 km (3:27 / km) vdot: 52.3
Such a sick race!!! Started out fast, and I wasn't sure if I could keep it up, but I did it, and got better!!! Took 12 sec off my last PB!!! Came 7th and almost beat the girl that won National Capital. I would''ve too, except she had more of a kick left. What was really crazy was the fact that the top 5 people were all within a second of eachother!!! Next year, though, I'm aiming for under 5 min!!
running warm up/down 25:00 [1]
warm-up before 1500m, lots of running, and then stretching
running race 1:05 [5]0.4 km (2:42 / km)
The 4x4 relay didn't go so well, but it's tough competition. Also, it was actually 5min after my 1500m race, but atleast I was all warmed up, I just had to catch my breath.
