Monday May 22

orienteering race (classic) 1:25:20 [3]8 km (10:40 / km)
I think it was pretty close to a perfect race except for maybe a minute or two mistake on 2 or 3 controls.

Sunday May 21

orienteering race (sprint) 20:08 [3]
Totally messed up control 2 and 3, but totally killed everybody on the last 5 or 6 controls.

Saturday May 20

Event: Eastern Canadian Championships

orienteering race (short) 25:18 [5]

Tuesday May 16

running 32:19 [3]6 km (5:23 / km)
It was really late when my dad got home, so since I didn't really want to get up early the next morning, we just went that night anyways. It was kinda scary running in the dark because you'd see all of the shadows but it was still really cool to be running in the dark. All that guided you was the yellow line on the bike path and the river. There was the occasionaly car that blinded you, but most of the time we were all alone. I felt really alive running though, no more deado for me. Hopefully I'll feel like this on the weekend...

Monday May 15

school sports (soccer) 35:00 [3]
In gym, since the soccer field was a big puddle, we played an intense soccer game with 4 nets. It was so much fun but really hard!!!

Sunday May 14

orienteering race 1:08:00 [3]*** 7.2 km (9:27 / km)
spiked:7/10c
I had such a bad race today and I think that it's because I was really tired and maybe all orienteered out!!! Control 1, was great, I nailed it. Then control 2 came along. Instead of taking the trail around, I decided to contour around and waste 5min!!! Stupid... Control 3 I didn't loose too much time, I just wasn't sure if it was on top of the cliff or at the bottom. Control 4 was pretty good although I don't think going through the woods was faster than taking the trail around. Control 5 I spiked so bad it was good. Control 6, the control was kind of a pit when it was supposed to be on the knoll. So I ran past it for about 10m until I realized I was too far. Control 7, 8, 9, and 10 were great, but then there was the finish which was 1.5km from the last control. What's up with that??? And it was all running along the road!!! I still got the second fastest split though!!! So it wasn't one of my best races but I had a great weekend.

Saturday May 13

orienteering 4:00:00 [2]***
spiked:40/44c rhr:2 slept:9.5
We orienteered all Saturday and now i'm pretty deado!!! In the morning, Stefan set up three courses for us to do. The first part was a bunch of controls set up really near an attack point, I did really well on those and I think it really helped. The second part, us juniors set it up so that it would be like we were doing a sprint. That was pretty cool although I messed up on control 2. That's where Eric caught up to me so we did the rest of the course together until control 10. Eric went off to the right, but the control was actually to the left. That's where I got back into the lead and then beat him in. The last part was a lot more difficult and very technical. I just went too far on one of the controls because I wasn't really reading my map that well. After lunch, my dad set a line-o which super-difficult!!! I went off the line so many times but I did find all of the controls. After that, there was a short course using different route choices and a corridor orienteering. That was a lof of fun and Robbie, Eric and I did a little race using it. There was an advanced section, but I think most of us were pretty tired out.

Friday May 12

running tempo 20:39 [3]3.5 km (5:54 / km)
shoes: Aasics
We got up at 6:30 to go running and we step outside and it starts to pour. How disappointing is that??? I wasn't going to waste a perfectly good sleepable-in morning by getting up to go running and not even go. So since we're not made of sugar, we did the Island Park route in the pouring rain. I got soaked inside and out, but because of my coat that his longer in the back so that it covers your behind, my butt ws perfectly dry!!! ;-)

Tuesday May 9

running race (800m and 400m try-outs) 3:52 [5]1.2 km (3:13 / km)
We had the try-outs for this relay thingymadooer which I really can't spell at all. I did the 800m and 400m races and I'm quite happy with my time. I killed on the 800m and I think I got a personal best of 2:40. The second lap my legs were burning but I kept pushing. I've never really done the 400m race, but I still did pretty well on it gettin 1:12.

Monday May 8

rock climbing (hiking aswell) 2:00:00 [4]
We went rock climbing with the scouts up at Luskville and it was loads of fun!!! It wasn't a too bad of a hike up or down, and fortunately, it was dry going across the field. I did two climbs, one pretty easy one, and one super-duper difficult one. It took a really long time to make it to the top and my muscles were screaming. But I still did it. It was really really scary in some parts though because you really had to put your faith in the rope because in parts you were clinging onto the side of the cliff with your fingernails!!!

Sunday May 7

Event: Ottawa Adventure Run

orienteering race (Adventure Run) 6:03:56 [2]***** 25 km (14:33 / km)
spiked:15/18c
The Kempsters, (my dad and I) and a lot of fun!!! At the beginning was the sprint part where I was struggling to keep up for some reason. I just felt really sick and tired at the same time. Not a good feeling at the beginning of an adventure race!!! It was a bit difficult to keep switching from map to map, but that's what made it a lot of fun. The Twin Towers were brutal to go up, down, up and then down again, but we made it to both of them. I found the Stump Jumpin' a lot of fun even though I ended up sunk in mud up past my knees!!! The only problem we had was at the grid/map part where we ended up wasting an hour away on a parallel hill. The think is that we made the hill we were on, seem exactly like the one we were trying to find. It's funny but inconvinient (spelling) when we do that. Other than that mistake it was a great race. I especially found the Advanced Part challenging, but we still did really well on it. It makes you realize exactly how much detail an orienteering map has!!!

Wednesday May 3

orienteering 2:00:00 [2]***
11c
For our junior training program, we started off with a warmup and then got into pairs. The excersize was to have one person lead the other person following along the map to a general area. Then, the person that was following would take the lead and go into the control. It was a lot of fun although, isn't that kind of teaching us how to follow another runner better??? After that we had a relay which are always a lot of fun.

Tuesday May 2

running tempo 31:00 [3]7.0 mi (4:25 / mi)
slept:8.0
My legs felt sooo dead today, so I don't think that quite recovered from the weekend. It was still a pretty good run though.
