Wednesday May 30

ultimate 35:00 [1]
Started a scrimage right away which was good because I had to leave a bit earlier since this morning was my last band rehearsal of this year!!

Tuesday May 29

running (track) 1:00:00 [3]
Pretty tough track practise, I think we did 5 400m sprints...the last one I did with spikes for the first time, and it makes SUCH a difference!!! I was sooo much faster!!
orienteering race 45:00 [3]
What a terrible race!!! I ran through stinging nettle, the map was really hard to read, including the control site, and therefore, I missed one of the controls, and had to do a huge detour in order to get 18!!! Had a really great route all planned out, except I didn't see control 22 which messed up my calculations. The burning in my legs didn't help either...

Monday May 28

orienteering 1:15:00 [2]
Went back to Cité des Jeunes, and it was actually become a rain forest!!! I guess it is the Gatineau hills, but what a change from seeing pretty far, and then hardly being able to see 2m ahead!!! Even though I've done the permanent course quite a few times, everything seemed new!!! Just toodled around the bottom of the map, lots of rock features that were missed, so trying to find a boulder in a boulder field ended up being quite a challenge!!! ;-)

Saturday May 26

running race 43:00 [4]10 km (4:18 / km) vdot: 47.7
Not sure of my actual time yet...still waiting for the results, but I had an awesome race. It seemed really long, except so short at the same time, the km's just kept going by so fast, cept I was hurting!!! :P The start was a lot of fun dodging in between people. Wanted to do 4 1/2 minutes a km, so we would've just followed the 45min bunny, but after the first km, I said "Screw the bunny!!!" Didn't see him after that!!! :P Had enough kick at the end to have a pretty good sprint in, and even passed a few people that had been just ahead of me the while race!!! Great satisfaction to have finished under my goal!!!

Friday May 25

ultimate 45:00 [1]
Regular practise except with lots of bugs!!

Thursday May 24

running race (steeplechase) 5:49 [5]1.5 km (3:53 / km) vdot: 46.0
PB so far for the steeplechase, although it seemed like my worse. Got cramped up on the 3rd lap and had to fight to keep the girl that was just behind me, still behind me! She was dieing too, so I wasn't going to let her pass, she was the difference between going to EOSSA and not!!! My "step rolls" went pretty well on the water pit, I think I got it the 2nd time, and I can't even remember the 3rd since I was in so much pain!
running race 5:22 [5]1.5 km (3:35 / km) vdot: 50.3
Another PB although only by 1sec. It was soooooo hot, and all the wind did was dry out your mouth, so still, it wasn't the best of races. Didn't have any heart to run, and as long as I stayed in 5th, I'd qualify...so that's what I did. No kick at all at the end.
running race 1:10 [5]0.4 km (2:55 / km)
4x4 relay, again not sure of my exact time since they just do the 4 runners combined. Had a strong start, but couldn't keep it until the end. Total time was 4:34, so the whole team is going to Belleville!!! :)

Wednesday May 23

ultimate 1:00:00 [2]
Had a little tournament with 4 teams...our team didn't win, but it was still a lot of fun. We played three games, I got one point, pulled once, and ran around a lot. Really wish they passed to girls more!!!!!!!!

Tuesday May 22

running 40:00 [4]
Ran down to Notre Dame track with Molly biking along. DId a warm-up and stretching before started the "hurdles." We had brought a broom handle, so Molly on her bike would hold it out as I came running along, I'd hurdle it, keep running while she biked ahead for the next hurdle. Really funny to watch, but it worked!!! Then did a 1500m time trial... 5:47...not the best, but ok.

Monday May 21

Note
(rest day)
Resting, of course, and recovering before regionals this Thursday

Sunday May 20

orienteering race (long) 1:19:25 [4]*** 8 km (9:56 / km) +200m 8:49 / km
spiked:9/13c
Had a really good race, except for the 100m from the controls that I messed up on a few. The first 3 were great, really careful going into control 3 cause it was a bingo one. My route to 4 was good but I went up the wrong spur, and therefore was in the wrong re-entrant and just messed up the whole thing. It was sooo green in there, so I started bailing back out to the swamp, but found the right re-entrant and hit the control from there. Worried about running off the map going to 5 cause it was really hard to tell which hill you were on, but I practically tripped over the fence which told me exactly where I was. Again, I messed up within 100m of the control cause I couldn't see if the spur continued or not. Relocated off some cliffs, but then I started heading in the wrong direction trying to get to the trail!!! The next 4 controls were fine, kinda messed up my route to 10, but 11 was fast, and then blew 12!!!! Was going way too fast and went too far down the hill, hit a fence, went back up, missed the control again going too far to the left into the dark green. I finally saw it coming from the right side, but wasted 2 minutes which what was between me and first place!! :P Really fun race though!!! Great way to finish off the weekend...with a day to recover!!!
running warm up/down 20:00 [1]
Run to the start, with a few practise controls on the way...plus stretching

Saturday May 19

Event: OOC Eastern Canadian Orienteering Championships

orienteering race (middle) 52:12 [5]*** 6 km (8:42 / km) +200m 7:27 / km
spiked:11/15c
Pretty long and challenging middle distance course, but it was a blast!!! Messed up the first 2 controls wasting a couple minutes, but the rest was good. Visited every single hill on the map practically which was sooooo tiring. It looked pretty simple on the map, but actually running it put it in perspective. Nailed most of the bingo controls, but went around the wrong side of the hill on control 9. Super fast from that control on and had a good sprint in.
orienteering race (sprint) 20:41 [5]*** 3 km (6:54 / km)
spiked:12/14c
Messed up the 2 first controls sooo bad!!! Couldn't find the start triangle for ages, and then I kept on losing it. Visited a couple cliffs before I found the right one, and by then Wil Smith had caught up to me. Then I did a 180 to number 2, but after those 2 mistakes the rest was excellent and very fast!!! A litte bit worried going along the ridge for controls 4 to 7. From control 9 to 10, I was with Stefan, and it was like who could run through the green and dodge the trees the fastest. It was soo nice going downhill that the uphill right after was a slap in the face!!! Extremely fast last 4 controls and I think I even won a couple of the splits. Amazingly too, I came first in F21!!! :P makes the race even better!!!
running warm up/down 20:00 [1]
Run to the 2 starts and stretching...

Friday May 18

running race 5:23 [5]1.5 km (3:35 / km) vdot: 50.1
First race this morning...start was much better than the other races, and I mananged to stay in the front pack the whole time. Placed 3rd behind the girl that just beat me yesterday in the 3000m

Thursday May 17

running race 11:40 [5]3 km (3:53 / km) vdot: 49.4
New PB in the 3000m since my rival in cross-country set a pretty fast pace. Practically the whole race I was about 10m behind the 3rd place girl. I got really close to passing her, but it never happened...felt like a really great race, and I'm improving!!!
running race (steeplechase) 5:58 [3]1.5 km (3:59 / km) vdot: 44.7
Did much better on the steelechase this time, although it was sooooo cold!!!!! It was at 8:15 in the morning, and you'd jump into the water which was frigid anyways, but then running down the straightway, the wind was coming right at you!!!! BRRRRR!!!! Came 5th which means I get to go to cities!!!
running warm up/down 30:00 [1]
warm-up and cool-down before and after both races...

Wednesday May 16

ultimate 25:00 [2]
Raining like heck, but enough of us showed up to make a team, so we played!!!

Tuesday May 15

running (track) 1:00:00 [2]
warm-up
stretching
intervals
relay and hurdle practise!!!
running (hurdles) 35:00 [2]
Molly held up a broom horizontally, and I jumped over it as if it were a hurdle. But then she made me laugh so I kept getting worse and worse!!! :P

Monday May 14

cycling 30:00 [2]
Biked to Venturers really fast, a game of Skittle Ball, and then after the meeting, a leisurely bike back.

Sunday May 13

orienteering race 1:09:54 [3]6 km (11:39 / km)
I think that whole map should be green because there isn't a lot of difference between the white and green anyways. Didn't make too many mistakes, took it slow on the bingo control 5 which in the middle of nowhere on a really steep hill. I think I chose a pretty good route choice on the longest leg, but it'll be interesting when the results are up and I can compare splits.

Saturday May 12

rock climbing 1:30:00 [4]
2 really tough climbs on the cliffs. My arms are really sore now, but such a great feeling of accomplishment when you touch that top karabeener and look out over the countryside!!!

Friday May 11

ultimate 2:00:00 [2]
Played 5 games, lost them all, but it was A BLAST!!!! Gotta luv that game!!! Pretty much mastered the flick!!!

Thursday May 10

running race (steeplechase) 6:17 [5]1.5 km (4:11 / km) vdot: 42.2
First steeplechase with a water pit!!! I think it's now one of my favourite races!!! It was really hot, so the water pit was so welcoming, I was thinking of taking a sip cause I was super thirsty, but that would've been kinda gross. Came in 4th with the gr 9's to gr 12's. I tried hurdling one steeple, but I twisted around a lot, so I just stepped on the rest of them.
running race 5:36 [5]1.5 km (3:44 / km) vdot: 48.0
Sickest 1500m race ever!!! Ended up at the back right at the start, but I just kept passing people until I was 5. It was the last lap, only about 100m left, and I just turned the back burners on!!! I have no idea where it came from but it was the best finish I've ever had!!! Passed the 3 people in front of me and came second by 6 tenths of a second!!! It might even be my PB for 1500m
It was super cool cause when I finished I heard on the loud speakers "and Nepean comes in second with Emily Kemp!!!" WOOOHOOO!!!! :P
running race 2:49 [5]0.8 km (3:31 / km)
Uber tired by my third event, so I wasn't going to go too hard since I still had the 3000, but that's hard to do when everybody else is sprinting. Didn't get to the point where my legs went numb, but I still went pretty hard, coming 7th.
running race 12:09 [5]3 km (4:03 / km) vdot: 47.2
My coach said that this was one of the more exciting 3000m races he's seen, and I though it was pretty good too!!! My legs were totally bitching at me cause they didn't wanna run, so I was at the back again at the start, but I knew that a few people would die going at the pace that they had started. Passed the few groups of girls and then started knocking off the single runners until I was 3rd. The girl in second was the tank that had won 1500m and 800m, so I didn't have high hopes about beating her, plus I only had 1 lap left. Managed to pull off a pretty good sprint at the end, but I had to sit down on the track cause my legs were soooo tired!!! One of my teamates came over and carried me off the track which was fun :P
Figured out that I had run about the equivalent of 7km around the track!!!! :O
running warm up/down 20:00 [1]
Warm-ups, cool-downs and stretching...
C • Wow! 2

Wednesday May 9

running (hurdles) 1:00:00 [1]
Warm-up run down to the field, stretching, and then hurdle drills on the sidewalk of Richmond Road. By the way, buses go fast enough to knock down hurdles just by the wind going past!!!
orienteering race (score-o) 1:00:00 [4]
First score-o this year, didn't have the best route picked out, but didn't make any major mistakes!!! Although, I know Pinhey Forest really well...
ultimate 1:00:00 [2]
