| cycling 2:10:00 [5]45 km (2:53 / km) | ||
| super windy day, but it was a fun ride. went all the way to Opinicon for dinner, but didn't bike back to the cottage, that would've been too dangerous on the roads at night. | ||

Friday Aug 24 | ||
| running intervals 32:00 [5] | ||
| What a messed up interval run!!! My plan was to do a 10min warm-up run, then 15min of 1min hard, 30sec rest, and then a 10min cool down. But, halfway through, I looked at my watch, and realized that I had 11min to get back home to look after my little brother while my sister got her hair cut. So my interval run turned into a full out tempo run all the way back in a record breaking time of 13min. Didn't get any appreciation for my sprint back though, just a glowering look from my sister. :P | ||
| strength 30:00 [5] | ||
| 50 push-ups and sit-ups
calf raises and wall sits for 1 min each, 6min. 50 more push-ups and sit-ups lunges for 30 sec then 2x up the stairs for 4min front plank 1min, 15sec rest, burpies 30sec, 15sec rest side plank 1min, " " other side plank 1min, " "
Thursday Aug 23 | ||
| running 53:00 [3] | ||
| Amazing run had to avoid the men with chainsaws, but hey, no big deal....went a bit longer then expected, but it was beautiful running weather so I didn't mind. | ||
| C • Avoiding men with chainsaws - makes me think of that ad for Nike 2 | ||
| cycling 50:00 [2] | ||
| After my run, I changed my shorts and shoes, and then hopped on my bike (kinda felt like a triathlon) I was contemplating whether to eat something or not, but I remembered burping up my pancakes for the first 5min of my run, so I decided against it. Went down to the river, and then downtown, although I've never been that far so I had no idea where I was going. Really neat down there, except it was everybody's lunch break so there were a bunch of runners that I had to go around. Didn't fall over at all this time, mostly cause I made sure to have both feet unclipped way before I had to stop! :P | ||
Wednesday Aug 22 | ||
| strength 5:00 [5] | ||
| Just did 5 sets of 10 push-ups and 10 sit-ups. My abs are still a little sore from my last core workout, so I took it easy. :P | ||

Monday Aug 20 | ||
| running hills 30:00 [4] | ||
| 10min warm-up run to the hill. haven't been there since I did it a few too many times in January...
Ran it 6 times and each one was 2min. I did 1x easy and then 2x hard, twice. The easy (if you can call running up a hill easy) was 1:30 with 30sec of rest jogging along the bottom, and then the hard ones were 1:20 with 40sec walking along the bottom. Finished with a 10min cool-down run back. There was a baseball practice going on at the bottom of the hill which was fun to watch on the way down, although the team was having a lot of trouble catching the ball!! :P
Sunday Aug 19 | ||
| cycling 2:00:00 [3]44 km (2:44 / km) | ||
| Biked the whole entire parkway with my dad and uncle. Loved climbing Fortune, and the downhills were exhillerating!!! Could really get a good clip going. | ||
Wednesday Aug 15 | ||
| cycling (mountain biking) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| Went up to the Gats for a quick bike ride and had a blast. It was the perfect day and it wasn't too hot or muggy. The only problem was that most of the hills were gravel so that going up the tires spun, and going down it was uber hard to keep control. I had a nasty wipeout and ended up having to scrub gravel out of my knee with a bristle brush once I got home. Not fun at all. Wish we could've gone longer, but I had to run home for a babysitting job which I was late for anyways cause I had to clean out my knee. | ||
Tuesday Aug 14 | ||
| running warm up/down 21:00 [1] | ||
| Warm-up with Molly and Ian on their bikes, a bit longer than expected... stupid detour. | ||
| running tempo 16:00 [3] | ||
| Just Molly on the bike with me running, and we almost got run over by crazy drivers a few times!!! Wasn't going as fast as I would've liked, but I still really enjoyed it!! | ||
| strength 25:00 [4] | ||
| 25 sit-ups and 25 push-ups 4 sets
30sec lunges 30sec rest for 5min calf thingymadooers 1min wall sit 1min for 4min plank 30sec, 15 sec rest for 4min Legs and arms were a bit wobbly afterwards, but enjoyed it all the same.

Monday Aug 13 | ||
| running 46:00 [3] | ||
| Drove up to the Gats for a run with my dad and I was a little grumpy in the car, but once we got out on the trail, I was jubilant!!! I felt sooooo much faster since I was at much a lower altitude than I've been running at for the past 2 weeks. Left my dad in the dust on the hills and finished the run mush earlier than expected. Oops... :P | ||
Thursday Aug 9 | ||
| Note | ||
| Had to leave this morning which was really sad cause it was also a party and a half traveling in a van of Americans. I even miss all of their Canadian jokes...almost. | ||

Wednesday Aug 8 | ||
| orienteering race (night-o) 1:19:00 [5]*** 7.6 km (10:24 / km) | ||
| I dunno if I was actually running faster, or if it just felt like it because it was dark, but it felt as if I was flying through the course compared to the blue courses I had run on the weekend. My light was like a measly about to die lightbulb, so it was nice when one of the runners with the car lights strapped to their heads were behind me, cause they lit up the whole forest!!! The start was a little rushed cause I forgot to clear and punch, so the the start thingymadooer wouldn't beep when it was my start time. Had to run back through the crowd to find the clear and check and then back to the start box and then to go pick up my map. Holy macaroni!!!! :P Didn't make any horrific mistakes, although I was close to doing a few. I kept trying to run while reading ahead, but that always resulted in tripping over or into a tree, or falling into a depression of off a cliff. Maybe I'll work on getting one of those car lights to strap to me head...I could even get blinkers!!!:P:P I think I ended up 2nd in F elite after a Norwegian runner, which makes me happy. | ||
| orienteering 2:15:00 [2] | ||
| Field-checked my training event, picked up my controls, and then ran the 3 other training events. A simplifying exercise, aiming off, and a reversed line-o. Lots of fun. | ||
Night-O Red - Splits | ||
Monday Aug 6 | ||
| running 1:10:00 [3] | ||
| Not totally sure of the time, but it was either an hr or just over it. Started out doing an Indian Run as John calls it which I really enjoyed. I've never done something like that and it was a blast, except for the part where Nate kept steering my into the bushes. | ||

Sunday Aug 5 | ||
| orienteering race (classic) 1:45:21 [4]*** 13.5 km (7:48 / km) | ||
| Ran blue again today since the two classic courses are combined, that's my excuse anyways. It was my longest o-course ever not including the rogains and adventure runs that I've done. It was really boring running through the fields and was a lot like yesterday except longer. Did a 180 degree error trying to get to the water control, but fortunately fixed it before I got too messed up. Tried to push it a little more in the fields and trails, but again, I had to walk up some of the hills cause it was so draining. John beat me by about 20min, but I beat Mike :P I think my overall time was 3:19:00 whereas the wining overall time was just over 2 hrs...hmmm I'll work on that :P:P | ||
blue day 2 - Splits | ||
Saturday Aug 4 | ||
| orienteering race 1:33:52 [4]*** 11 km (8:32 / km) | ||
| 22c | ||
| I ran blue...I can't believe it, but I did!!! I didn't mean to, well actually I did. Ok, I got to the start, and was looking at the start list, and I noticed that all of the elite women were registered as running blue. So just in case they actually did, I blue as well. A lady even showed me another start list naming all of the people on each course, and I was under blue, so I started out of the uber long course thinking that I was running the right course. Well, I got back after an hr and a half and I find out that I was actually supposed to run Red. Oh well, I had fun on the course and I get to see how I'll place overall within M21. :P:P
Felt really sluggish out on the course, and was way off my bearing on the way to control 2. Like waaaaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off!!!! Leap frogged the rest of the course with another Blue course runner, but I pulled away on the last 4 or 5 controls.
Blue Day 1 - Splits | ||
Friday Aug 3 | ||
| Event: 2007 USOF Convention and Colorado 5-Days | ||
| ultimate 45:00 [2] | ||
| Instead of going for a run, we played a game of ultimate in bare feet as cross-training!!! | ||
Thursday Aug 2 | ||
| running tempo 45:00 [4] | ||
| We drove out to a reservoir in some town I can't remember the name of, and it was pouring rain while we were sitting in the van. We had been there for about 5min before we just gave up waiting for it to stop and faced the pouring rain for a rather speedy warm-up run. We did 7.5min out fast, and then 7.5min fast back. It was pretty much uphill most of the way out, which made it nice for the way back!!! Out cool-down run was fine until it started pouring again, and then HAILING!!! That really stung... got back totally drenched and had to change and squish back into the van all damp. Fortunately dinner at an IHOP made everything all better. | ||
Wednesday Aug 1 | ||
| running long 1:30:00 [2]11.0 mi (8:10 / mi) | ||
| Did an 11 mile run, which I guess works out to be about 18km on a long, flat, and straight trail. Started out at about a zone 2, but it kinda sped up to about zone 3 near the 45min mark. Managed a little bit of off-trail running on the other side of the highway which was fun. Legs were starting to bang together a little bit by the end, but I got the wonderful 'after-you-train' feeling once it was all over. | ||
