 | X-country skiing intervals 15:00 [3] | |
| |
| Made a loop on the pond just outside the lodge trying to avoid the icy patches and quinsee plus all of the grass thingymadooers... Did the loop a bunch of times although I think my fastest was 2 1/2min |
 | skating 1:20:00 [1] | |
| |
| Play hockey/basketball/soccer on our "rink". The ice was really bad in some spots but that just made it more interesting. We didn't have any hockey sticks, so it was pretty challenging but still tons of fun. |

| heading up to the lodge for some winter camping. Not sure what I'll be sleeping in tonight, maybe a mound of snow, or maybe just underneath a tarp. Should be a good weekend but very cold... brrrr!!! |
 | strength 15:00 [4] | |

| Had to do something today, so just got in my shorts and did 15min of push-ups, sit-ups, wall sits, stairs... good times :P |
 | hiking 45:00 [1] | |
| |
| Hiked into the lodge with all of our gear and it was really really cold to start, but then once you got going it got too hot!!! Had a few pretty big hills but it wasn't as bad as last time where it took 3hrs!!! Sleeping in a tent tonight, so we'll see how that goes... |
Wednesday Jan 24 |
 | X-country skiing long 1:50:00 [2] | |
| |
| Went to P8 and did a nice flat loop before we went up past P10 for the major hill! It was the one that we had to run up for the last 20min of the Rogaine and it was just as hard. My technique is so much better than 2 days ago and I really noticed a difference. Took a break at a nice warm cabin to have a snack and warm up which is what we really needed except when we left, the sun had just about gone down, so it was really really cold!!! Plus it was pretty much all downhill so the wind just went right through my gloves and my fingers acutally froze!!! Not fun, but atleast it was all downhill... |
Tuesday Jan 23 |
 | X-country skiing 35:00 [3] | |
| |
| Same old same old. Except on the way back took it up a notch and went pretty fast. My glide is improving, although it still needs a lot of work... |
Monday Jan 22 |
 | X-country skiing 1:00:00 [2] | |
| |
| Did all technique at practise today so now I know how to get a really good glide, double pole (although I need to work on it) and what I should be doing while skiing (like my arms, skis...) anyways, good practise and I got my purple spandex tights with the gold strips. Go NHS colours!!! |

 | X-country skiing warm up/down 25:00 [1] | |
| |
| Skiied part of my 5 km course because I had no idea where to go. Some really big hills that we have to go up and down!!! Really really cold too!!! |
 | X-country skiing race 31:40 [5]5 km (6:20 / km) | |
| |
| One of the toughest things I have ever done!!! We had to start out double poling which I have never done before so all the other skiiers (who were all in spandex suits and were all in really intense clubs) were gone after 200m so I never saw them again. Fell once and twisted my knee which hurt, but my goal from then on was just to finish this race!!! Once I got into the second part of the course (which had all of the super big uphill) the Junior guys started catching up. After the first really big hill, I had to do the herring bone really fast to get up the other ones because I couldn't get any glide. Finally about 1.5km from the finish, the junior girls started catching up, so it looked like I was doing really well, but actually, I was still last. Going down Dirks Dive was interesting but atleast I didn't wipe out which I was really careful not to do. I had a bit of a race with this guy probably in the junior guys in the finish chute which was fun, but it was just exhausting. Coming last didn't really frustrate me, because I know that all of those racers are really intense skiiers, so I'm gonna have to train more so that I can atleast keep up with them. (The fastest time was 19:06!!! |
 | X-country skiing warm up/down 10:00 [1] | |
| |
| Just skiied around a bit afterwards for a cool down while trying to avoid the other racers. |
