Stress Echocardiogram done today!
Essentially I got hooked up to a bunch of different machines, started walking on the treadmill with a HR under 100b/m, and every three minutes, the speed/incline would increase. They would stop the test once I felt discomfort and or my HR reached 200b/m. Then they would immediately rush me to the Echo machine to take pictures of my heart within a minute. (So the Heart Rate is still up)
Fun Fact! The max for the machine is at 18 minutes! So they stopped the test there because a) my HR was at a constant 184b/m b)There weren't any more settings left =P #AthelteStatus
Also fun fact! I was able to get my heart rate down from 184 to 92 in two minutes!!
Not so fun fact! Because they needed full access to my chest to take pictures, I had to run with nothing on...#FreeTheNipple!!
So final diagnosis: My heart is super healthy. Like, ridiculously healthy. I probably just tore a couple of muscles in my ribs, and because I'm still active, it hasn't had time to heal so my chest is under a lot of stress.
During the race in NH, I was dealing with a lot of mental stress as well as pushing through this injury (which happened at some point before that?), and the end result was me passing out.
So.... What now?
*Conversation between the doctor and I*
Doctor: You should have an MRI done, to make absolutely sure that its a torn muscle. Also, You should take two months off of training so that anything that needs to heal, can.
Me: Uh, I can't.. I have a World Ski O Championships in February that I need to train for...
Doc: Oh, well after that then
Me: Immediately after, I have team trials for Ski O..
Doc: Well once we don't have snow then-
Me: I have to train for normal Orienteering after...
Doc: Okay, when can you rest?
Me: August?
To be Updated in August!
