Paddle - canoe race 3:33:00 [4] 19.0 mi (11:13 / mi)

We created about a 20 min seperation from Running Free on this leg.

Mtn Bike race 1:17:00 [5] 11.25 mi (6:51 / mi) +984ft 6:19 / mi

Pressed really hard on this leg to try and create more of a gap as we went to another
conservation project.

Other race 11:00 [3]

Conservation project II - Drag brush from a cleared road 20' into the woods.

Mtn Bike race 1:21:00 [5] 10.0 mi (8:06 / mi) +1312ft 7:12 / mi

Another hard push to Echo Lake at the bottom of Cannon MTN.

Other race 58:00 [3] 0.5 mi (1:55:57 / mi) +656ft 51:43 / mi

Ascend and rappel 150' on Artists Bluff.

Kayak race 33:00 [5] 2.0 mi (16:30 / mi)

Weird kayak leg twice around Echo Lake. Watched a bear on one of the Cannon slopes.

Trek race 6:15:00 [4] 9.6 mi (39:04 / mi) +5249ft 25:44 / mi

A tough hike to the top of Cannon then down and back up to the Greenleaf hut on Lafayette. We had about a 1 hour lead when we started the hike so we still pushed when we could.

Trail run race 54:00 [4] 5.0 mi (10:48 / mi) +98ft 10:36 / mi

Finished the trek still in front but we did not know by how much so we ran to the finish. Knees, shins and feet hurting on all of us but as Sarah said "It doesn't hurt any worse running..."

Mtn Bike race 5:43:00 [4] 44.5 mi (7:42 / mi) +3937ft 7:07 / mi

Long bike to second orienteering section. We also had a short trek up Prospect Mountain somewhere towards the end.

Trek race 2:43:00 [4] 6.8 mi (23:58 / mi) +984ft 21:05 / mi

Second orienteering section. 3 Points...no problems.

Mtn Bike 4:11:00 [3] 31.8 mi (7:54 / mi) +3609ft 7:08 / mi

Another long bike up some viscious hills. Cherry Mountain and Jefferson Notch road.

Trek race 8:32:00 [4] 16.0 mi (32:00 / mi) +3281ft 26:48 / mi

Long orienteering section. First 4 points were the hardest and the last three were accessible by "trails".

Mtn Bike race 1:00:00 [5] 13.3 mi (4:31 / mi) +492ft 4:22 / mi

Race to the paddle put in with Running Free. They left about 15 min ahead of us. We caught them right at the TA.

Note
slept:2.0

Got to the paddle TA at 11PM and could not put on the water until 4 AM so we plotted the rest of the course and readied our gear. We got about 2 hrs of sleep before we put on the river at 4 AM.

Note

Untamed New England Adventure Race
Franconia, NH

Mtn Bike race 1:48:00 [5] 13.0 mi (8:18 / mi) +984ft 7:45 / mi

Start of the race plotting 3 points. We completely messed up the first point by not correlating it to the local trail map correctly. Too much in a hurry. Lost about 20 mins right at the start...

Other race 8:00 [5] 0.2 mi (39:59 / mi)

Conservation Project
Stacking 2 ft long firewood. Each team had to stack 50 pieces per racer.

Mtn Bike race 13:00 [5] 3.8 mi (3:25 / mi) +328ft 3:10 / mi

Mostly roads and dirt roads.

Trail run race 1:35:00 [5] 7.3 mi (13:01 / mi) +1312ft 11:07 / mi

Up and over Parker Mountain to the Connecticut River.

Paddle - canoe race 1:35:00 [3] 7.3 mi (13:01 / mi)

Connecticut River paddle.
1 optional point wotrh a 3 hr time bonus.

Trail run race 1:00:00 [4] 4.2 mi (14:17 / mi) +328ft 13:18 / mi

Ride and tie. Chris and I ran and Sarah rode. NYARA did a nice job of leapfrogging the bike on this section.

Mtn Bike race 2:05:00 [5] 17.8 mi (7:01 / mi) +1969ft 6:21 / mi

More dirt roads.

Trek race 4:20:00 [4] 9.0 mi (28:53 / mi) +1312ft 25:23 / mi

Victory Bog Wildlife management area. We made a poor decision to try and bushwack to the second point here and it cost us in terms of time but not placing oddly enough.
