| Running (Easy) 1:27:24 [1] 13 km (6:43 / km) | ||
| ahr:143 max:160 | ||
| An easy run off-road through the trail system. Tried not to get too worn out before my hockey game tonight. | ||
| Hockey (Game) 15:00 [3] | ||
| (injured) | ||
| Half decent game for the team... most of the team, anyway. I played fairly well, fluffed a clearing attempt, but recovered and made up for it.
Losing 3-2, we pulled the goalie and I got sent out with our other top forwards to try to pot one. We pressed hard for the last minute and came close a couple of times, but as I was circling the blue paint watching for a rebound with about 5 seconds left, I received a vicious cross-check from behind in my lower back. My right knee (which *was* my good one) folded and I felt a pop. I was left crumpled holding my knee and the refs let the clock wind out without penalizing whoever hit me. Anyway, the fallout is that I can walk mostly normally and I've been compressing and keeping it cold. At most it's a strain, which will hopefully heal itself. No need to involve the orthopod at this point.

| Mountain Biking (Commute) 40:41 [1] 16.9 km (2:24 / km) | ||
| ahr:142 max:156 | ||
| Woof. Just sneaking into Z1. Straight to work without any off-road or loops due to staying up late last night playing hockey and then watching the NHL playoffs on Tivo in fast forward mode to get to bed at about 0100h. Coffee will keep me alive this morning, and I might feel sickish around 1600h to catch the Sharks v. the Oil. | ||
| Mountain Biking (Commute) 41:42 [1] 16.9 km (2:28 / km) | ||
| ahr:136 max:157 | ||
| Straight home after (during) work to grab my road bike and some casual attire to watch the NHL game at Tim's place. | ||
| Road Bike 16:33 [2] 5.3 km (3:07 / km) | ||
| ahr:144 max:174 | ||
| Ride over to Tim's place to Watch the Oil take on the Sharks. A bit worried when I got there and they were down a goal already. As I settled in, they went down another goal, and I was quite concerned, but they turned it around. | ||
Thursday May 11 | ||
| Mountain Biking (Commute) 55:24 [1] 21.1 km (2:38 / km) | ||
| ahr:139 max:160 | ||
| Kinda tired this morning after staying up to watch the game between the Oilers and the Sharks. Glad I watched though...very nerve racking at times. | ||
| C • Cheering for...? 3 | ||
| Mountain Biking (Commute) 1:23:02 [1] 31.8 km (2:37 / km) | ||
| ahr:135 max:163 | ||
| A long winding route home to get more distance. I fixed my disc brake drag, but maybe I should have left it as more resistance... thought about adding more distance, but decided against it as I've got hockey tonight. | ||
| Hockey (Game) 10:00 [3] | ||
| Not a good game for the team. Very disorganized and had a hard time staying out of the penalty box which led to my extraordinarily low ice time. Lines got all screwed up and it was a mess. We lost...yup, it'll happen when you allow several short handed goals against. Next game is Saturday.
Still no goals, but not for lack of trying. Continued my trend of drawing penalties, although difficult with my lack of ice time. My best chance was a pseudo break I created through forechecking, attacking down the left wing. Tried to draw the goalie across the net and tuck it in the close post, but he was slow on his lateral movement and there was no hole against the post. FYI - Hockey games are not the best source of training volume... they suck up about two hours of your day for 15-20 minutes of real workout. Albeit plenty fast paced. Probably pretty conservative calling this Z3.

| Mountain Biking (Commute) 1:05:47 [1] 24.4 km (2:42 / km) | ||
| ahr:134 max:160 | ||
| Straight home to run an errand and watch NHL hockey. | ||
Tuesday May 9 | ||
| Road Bike (Commute) 41:31 [3] 22.1 km (1:53 / km) | ||
| ahr:165 max:183 | ||
| Good semi-tempo ride in to work on the road bike. Some guy that I passed hooked on and drafted me for a while before our paths separated. He is probably one of those guys who just doesn't like to be passed, but if I'd stayed behind him, I wouldn't have gotten a good workout in. | ||
| Road Bike (Commute) 54:08 [1] 24.8 km (2:11 / km) | ||
| ahr:141 max:164 | ||
| Again straight home to watch Lindsay play hockey. | ||
Monday May 8 | ||
| Mountain Biking (Commute) 1:04:50 [1] 23.2 km (2:48 / km) | ||
| ahr:127 max:155 | ||
| Just a early morning, casual ride to work through bug infested marshes and trail network. I've gotten quite proficient at taking off my helmet, dumping bugs, and readjusting my helmet on the fly. Didn't leave early enough to add the Google loop. | ||
| Mountain Biking (Commute) 1:02:58 [1] 24.2 km (2:36 / km) | ||
| ahr:134 max:168 | ||
| Straight home so that I could watch Lindsay play hockey. | ||
Sunday May 7 | ||
| Mountain Biking (Spectating) 1:03:06 [1] 17.5 km (3:36 / km) | ||
| ahr:122 max:150 | ||
| Actively spectating at Lindsay's road race. Rode to the sight and then rode around to five different points on the course to try to help cheer her on. | ||
| Surfing 1:45:00 [1] | ||
| Location: Linda Mar - North End
First time back in the water for a while. Since my board was stuck south of Devil's Slide, I borrowed a board from Marcus. Several very nice rides while the waves were co-operating but as the waves started slamming on the sandbar, I got caught inside a few times. Paddling back out was a challenge. I managed to get back out after being caught a couple of times, but after the third time being caught inside big sets, my arms were absolutely spent and I was getting nigh on survival mode, so decided to bail out. Also got a slight burn on my face and scalp (summer short haircut).
