| Easy ride out with the girls to watch the Stanford XC race. Couldn't bring the bikes into the race area with us, so I stayed with the bikes (not gonna leave my baby alone) while the girls watched Standford spank some of the other schools. Stanford came in 1,2,3,4 and 12 to clean up the girls race. |
 | Road Bike 39:44 [1] | |
| ahr:143 max:183 |
| Return ride with the girls. They told me to go ahead, so I took off and rode a stiffer pace. |
 | Hockey (Game) 18:00 [3] | |
| |
| Another pretty decent game by the team. I didn't play as well as I'd like, but helped with an assist and strong defense. We won 4-1 to solidify our standings. |

 | Mountain Biking (Commute) 38:20 [2]17.4 km (2:12 / km) | |

| Took the Epic for a ride. I forgot how fast this bike is compared to the Enduro. Twitchy racing steering, but very fast. |
 | Mountain Biking (Nooner) 27:30 [1]9 km (3:03 / km) | |
| ahr:143 max:171 |
| Quick nooner with Chris. Didn't go too far as Chris had to get back to eat before a meeting. |

| ahr:150 max:171 |

 | Hockey (Practice) 45:00 [2] | |
| |
| Brutal skating drills and lost of puck handling. I wasn't receiving many good passes tonight, so my shooting really sucked. |

 | Swimming 54:00 [1] | |
| |
| Not sure on the distance today as I ended up breaking from the perscribed exercise to prevent killing myself. |
 | Road Bike (Commute) 36:02 [2]17.3 km (2:05 / km) | |
| ahr:144 max:173 |
| I don't remember riding too hard, but the HR is almost always higher on swimming days than usual. |
 | Road Bike (Commute) 32:48 [2]16.8 km (1:57 / km) | |
| ahr:157 max:184 |
| Burned it home to get showered and changed for a fondue feast. |

 | Note | |
| (sick) (rest day) |
| Took the day completely off to try to overcome a bad cold. Spent most of the day rotating between lying on the couch, the floor, and drink vast quantities of OJ and neocitrin type beverage to quell the symptoms. The day is very long when you just sit around. My internal body temperature was going nuts and I had the fan on and off and a blanket to try to moderate my suffering. |

3x100 pull (+5)
4x300 (odds were +15, evens were -15)
3x100 pull (+5) |
 | Road Bike (Commute) 33:44 [2]17.2 km (1:58 / km) | |
| ahr:156 max:173 |
| Rode the road bike for the first time in a while. Thick fog and cool this morning in the bay area. Lindsay's little bento box thing (her picnic basket as she calls it) was scraping my knees and being a pain in the butt. Had to wear my Super Mario WC suit since I never did get around to doing my laundry over the weekend and I didn't feel like wearing sweaty old lycra. |
 | Road Bike (Commute) 49:37 [1]24 km (2:04 / km) | |
| ahr:136 max:158 (sick) |
| Felt like crap at work. Sniffling, sneezing, generally blowing my nose all over the place, and feeling sick, so I packed up in the afternoon to go home. |
Sunday Oct 22 |
 | Mountain Biking 1:00:00 [2]16.1 km (3:44 / km) | |
| ahr:156 max:179 |
| Riding Skeggs Point on Skyline with some of my friend's friends. Chris is desprately out of shape and needs to do some good cardio.
Some good descents and some good non-technical climbing. I rode the Enduro without clipless since I forgot my cleats so I may not have been as efficient as I might otherwise have been, but I was definitely the class of the field.
The guy on the front of our group actually got busted by Rangers with a radar gun if you can believe that. I couldn't believe it, but there they were. Clocked him going 8mph over the 15mph limit.
The whole session was 2:16:08 long, but with lots of breaks I logged it as an hour. |
 | Surfing 45:00 [1] | |
| |
| First surf session to test drive a "new to me" wetsuit. A nice O'neill Psycho 2. It's a 3/2 wetsuit but still quite warm. Having done both, it's a bad assumption to think that there's not too much difference between tri suits and surf suits (or at least think that tri suits are adequate for surfing). The materials are totally different. Where the tri suit is designed to being very slick through the water (and therefore does not stick well to the surfboard wax and stuff) the surf suit does. The O'neill is very flexible, so paddling is pretty decent (not as good as a tri suit, but what the hell) and the surf suit is definitely designed to be warmer seeing as it is not designed to be removed in a hurry. It's almost like the two were designed for different things... go figure;)
Session was over 2 hours long, but due to waves (lack of), we didn't paddle as much as I otherwise might and there was a bit of sitting around waiting. |
