8 AM

Running warm up/down 13:00 [2] 1.5 mi (8:40 / mi)

Dropped Charlotte off at Teddington gate to do Bushy, and I headed over the Thames to Kingston
9 AM

Running race 16:52 [5] 3.1 mi (5:26 / mi)

Kingston parkrun - 1st, 16.52

Solo front run, solid.
Flat all the way out and back course, though got a bit rough under foot then very rough as we went round the far end.
Pleasingly last mile was the quickest after wavering a bit in the middle.

Running 20:00 [3] 2.7 mi (7:24 / mi)

Down through Kingston and over Thames to the Bushy finish line, but didn't take best route, so a bit further than intended...
12 PM

Running 19:30 [3] 2.5 mi (7:48 / mi)

Down Basingstoke canal to the start. Very warm now

Urban Orienteering race 49:20 [5] 7.1 mi (6:57 / mi) +30m 6:52 / mi

Woking Goldsworth Park urban - 1st, 49.25

It was a good thing I eased into this, as the heat meant I was struggling greatly from halfway, really had to focus to keep moving and motivate myself. Suprised I didn't make more mistakes as mind was very tired.

Great area and for the most part, very well planned, plenty of route choice and I missed a couple. The sequence of shorter legs from 7 to 15 meant I couldn't plan ahead for the long leg, where the uncrossable wall at the end caught me out though it wasn't far to go round. In my physical state at this point I couldn't have crossed it anyway. Almost missed the northern route to #23 and only spotted it because I wondered why other people were going that way.

Final leg was quite strange, lot of navigation to get to the finish and across a car park as well, seemed odd to me. Some of the grippling left a lot to be desired, laminate tags with control code on covering the hole a lot of the time.

Good event overall.

Shuffled to get liquid with massive chaffage

Running 29:00 [3] 4.0 mi (7:15 / mi) +10m 7:12 / mi

Loop Line
Took it exceptionally easy, no idea how that meant running at the pace that happened.

Running 25:45 [3] 4.0 mi (6:26 / mi)

Continuing the quality over quantity theme

7 PM

Running 6:50 [3] 1.0 mi (6:50 / mi)

Was meant to be doing Sunderland 5k, but train chaos put paid to that

Orienteering race 17:05 [5] 2.5 mi (6:50 / mi) +10m 6:45 / mi

Nunroyd Park O - 2nd

Ran hard but my failure to navigate properly left me 2nd to a clean run from Niall.
Ballsed up #1completely as did a few others, in my defence the path was a bit indistinct but that is a weak defence as there is a marked tree in line with the entrance to it.
Then couldn't access #8 directly from north after 2 attempts due to too many nettles, so had to backtrack slightly. An ambitious route choice perhaps but would have worked in winter.

Running tempo 15:56 [4] 2.5 mi (6:22 / mi) +25m 6:11 / mi

Decided due to lack of race to tempo home, which was into the wind so the effort felt hard for not much in the way of pace at first. Had a word with myself and found another gear, so the last 10 mins were sub 6 pace, which was fine.
