Saturday Jan 20 #

9 AM

Running warm up/down 8:40 [3] 1.0 mi (8:40 / mi)

Running race 21:45 [4] 3.3 mi (6:35 / mi) +60m 6:14 / mi

Tollcross parkrun - 6th, 21:45

The only parkrun on in the Central Belt.
4 x out and back in the snow, with a bit of a hill on the way back.
Legs aching straight away so took it steady in view of race later.
Leader 2 mins ahead, could I have run 2 mins quicker? Unlikely I'd say.
Enjoyed it, and much credit to the event team for not giving up.
10 AM

Running warm up/down 4:50 [4] 0.6 mi (8:03 / mi)

1 PM

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.6 mi (8:20 / mi)

Urban Orienteering race 1:15:40 [4] 9.9 mi (7:39 / mi) +330m 6:56 / mi

Edinburgh City Race - 3rd - race voided

(Not sure about that climb that strava tells me)

Sensible decision to void the race
Ran fairly hard when I could but was tip toeing on the icy sections, mainly in the council estate to the east which was treacherous. Not happy with route choices on the legs W-E into and out of that area either.
Otherwise, not bad.

Good to have a longer distance urban race.

Friday Jan 19 #

12 PM

Running 29:50 [3] 4.0 mi (7:28 / mi) +10m 7:24 / mi

7 PM

Running warm up/down 7:45 [3] 1.0 mi (7:45 / mi)

Urban Orienteering race 26:45 [3] 3.6 mi (7:26 / mi)

Kings Buildings Sprint - 16th

Too icy to run fast in the dark.
Considering I was not running fast the silly, if small errors I made early on were a bit annoying.
8 PM

Running warm up/down 9:00 [3] 1.1 mi (8:11 / mi)

Urban Orienteering race 13:15 [4] 1.0 mi (13:15 / mi) +20m 12:29 / mi

Indoor Race (Short) - 1st

Had to do the short race as started at 2045 and the building shut at 2100!

Massive fun, messed up getting on to the ice rink that was the roof and the head scratcher that was the finish but the rest went well. Helped having done one before as you have to think differently.

It was only afterwards I really clocked the map basically only used the corridors in contrast to the York event where nothing was OOB.

An interesting dilemma for the AIRE event we may get cracking on, though the decision could easily be made for us...

Thursday Jan 18 #

5 PM

Running 26:10 [2] 3.5 mi (7:29 / mi)

Out to Kirkstall easy
6 PM

Trampoline Circuits 1:00:00 [3]

This was fun, though I struggle with co-ordination, e.g. jumping backwards
It felt easy at first but snuck up on me, esp in calves so will be interesting to see how I run tomorrow...

Wednesday Jan 17 #

12 PM

Running 42:00 [3] 4.9 mi (8:34 / mi)

Knavesmire
6 PM

Running warm up/down 18:45 [2] 2.5 mi (7:30 / mi) +30m 7:14 / mi

7 PM

Orienteering race 50:50 [3] 5.8 mi (8:46 / mi) +30m 8:38 / mi

Golden Acre - 3rd
Got them all, had a fairly major wobble costing about a minute early on, but the rest was fine. Rather enjoyable in fact.
8 PM

Orienteering 14:00 [3] 1.7 mi (8:14 / mi)

Control collection

Tuesday Jan 16 #

12 PM

Running 32:00 [2] 4.2 mi (7:37 / mi)

7 PM

Running 1:06:30 [4] 10.0 mi (6:39 / mi) +100m 6:27 / mi

For some reason the session was cancelled.
Apparently weather related but have trained in far worse conditions even this winter.
Couldn't rouse myself for a solo session so ran up through Middleton to Tingley then down past white rose and finished with the last k on the track.
Decent run, the slush made it hard going but ploughed on both literally and figuratively.

Monday Jan 15 #

5 PM

Running 50:30 [2] 6.4 mi (7:53 / mi) +10m 7:51 / mi

Out and back from the office

Sunday Jan 14 #

12 PM

Out to Addingham to recce event, and back as far as Ilkley. Moving well without trying, which was nice.
