Think I did it the wrong way round

Running warm up/down 6:30 [3] 0.75 mi (8:40 / mi) +20m 8:00 / mi

Urban Orienteering race 48:15 [5] 7.1 mi (6:48 / mi) +240m 6:09 / mi

Halifax Urban - 1st

All going well, though running round the centre in the mid part, thought I should be running faster...luckily glanced over at the north part of the map and saw the mountainous end section and kept the pace the same.

Silly route to #7 back past #3 which involved some zig zagging
Wobble to #14 as thought I was one street north of where I actually was
Was no good from #20 onwards
Should have approached #20 from west
#21 - somehow missed route across grass, only saw steps which I decided to avoid following main road round
#22 - went down ramp to E of #24, not sure if this was better than reversing at #21, think it was?
#24 - back past #21, think this was better than climbing ramp
#25 - totally missed route through mills, lost lots of time
#29 - though steps would run east west rather than north south so ended up at bottom

Lots of poor grippling and slow boxes meant lost lots of time to anyone with a SIAC.

Good, if cruel, planning in the final 10 controls.
Nice to have water at the end.

Running race 17:02 [5] 3.1 mi (5:30 / mi) +20m 5:23 / mi

Llanelli Coast parkrun - 1st, 17.02

Annual random parkrun with other dravers.

Set off in the lead, comfortably hard pace, with some youngster breathing down my neck. Panting heavily after 200m it was clear he was well outside his comfort zone, though by the time we got to a mile in 5.29 I was doubting my judgement of this, and also wondering, with my own breathing relatively sedate, whether I was pushing enough.
But then came the hill and I was all alone. At the turn I was miles clear, so a solo effort back, 2nd mile 5.34 and watch died, pushed onto finish fairly hard, though think there was a bit more in tank, but clearly last mile must have been 5.25ish.
Lovely morning

Running race 4:48 [5] 1.0 mi (4:48 / mi)

Hyde Park Summer Mile - 4.48.1 PB

Stupidly nervous beforehand, despite telling myself it was stupid, mainly because not raced this short for a while.
Should have gone faster really, front two shot off and I let the others do the work first lap, pushed on, and after guy in 4th came past with 300 to go and immediately cut in front of me, that roused me to a manic sprint finish which is most unlike me so shows there was a bit left in the tank.
That said, couldn't breathe properly for a while after.

Superb event, wish there were more of them.
