Event: Red Hill

Orienteering race 42:49 [4] 6.47 km (6:37 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

SWOT race at Greenbushes, another Scatter course, but half the controls were in an old mining area, quite complex. Fell again, tripped over a rock, almost planted my face on another one, gashed my finger and right shin. This happened at my 2nd control where I had arrived at the same time as Anthea and Mr Nesky, but it was their first. I was a bit winded, and Henry and Anthea sprinted off back to the control I had already picked up. I should have beaten them to the next one, but made a mistake, not seeing a laneway, and Henry arrived at the next one at the same time as me all square, Anthae about 30m back. Then Henry just motored away. Caught him briefly two controls later where there was a queue of kids all punching slowly - Henry tried to muscle in but their Dad told him off so we all had to wait. After that I was with Anthea and Rob W through the first part of the mining detail, but managed to sneak away when we separated looking for a cliff in the green and I luckily found it first and never saw them again. Apparently though Anthea nearly caught me but then made another mistake. This time I was about 4 mins behind Henry at the Finish.

Orienteering race 47:48 [4] 6.32 km (7:34 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

SWOT event at Bridgetown, mainly streets but with a few small bush areas, and a gravel path around the river. Crossing a wooden footbridge over a side gully, even the X-talons couldn't grip on the wet timber and I ended up with bad gravel rash on my right elbow. Had a reasonable route, haven't really looked at the course yet. Lost by 2 minutes to Mr Nesky, but he also had to run an extra km after finishing one control short.
