Orienteering race 1:02:25 [4] 4.9 km (12:44 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

H3 at Jumbuck Hill, a reasonable accurate but slow run. Alex's map is certainly an improvement as I could recognise every feature I looked at, whereas on the previous map I've done several courses where I hardly ever knew where I was or which bit of rock I was looking at.

Got a little bit high at 1, but picked it and went down to the correct boulder quickly. Contoured around to 2 and spiked it, same at 3. 4 was just a case of keeping the broad hill to my left until an obvious gully 150m before the control. 5-6 was a doozie with very steep downhill, where Craig passed me going a different way. This was an area which I'd had particular trouble recognising any features previously, but had no problem picking up a boulder and cliff 100m before the control. Caught a glimpse of IF on the way to 7, which cheered me up as I knew he'd started 6-8 minutes ahead of me. Crossed to the Northern track and followed it to a bend West of 8, easy peasy from there. Took the straight route to 9 through a horrendous green and stony area below a large, steep rock surface - should have gone North and out to a track. The last two were pretty straightforward.

Road cycling 2:19:39 [3] 56.7 km (2:28 / km)
shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

Around the river, added Mt Henry as I had picked up a group along the freeway and just before Canning Bridge I heard their leader call out 'over the bridge', so I decided to go under it. Only about two minutes of light rain near Pt Walter, but the SW wind was tough - relieved to have it with me from Port Beach. No surfers out, there was a swell but the surf very choppy indeed. Breakfast at The Daily.

Running 32:15 [3] 5.2 km (6:12 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Pursue 2

Shorter short route in Kings Park. Not too much traffic getting there, but a nightmare to get out of West Perth afterwards thanks to a jack-knifed truck blocking the freeway.
