Orienteering race 35:15 [4] 5.46 km (6:27 / km)
ahr:133 max:152 shoes: Inov8 Parkclaw 275

Metro race at Mt Claremont. Only two ways out of the start, one of which involved a long stair climb, so headed South along with surprisingly few others. Picked up the SE section (except for 5), then had difficulty working out a route back. Was happy with my final choice until arriving at the finish to find two other OFs already there, so the route wasn't so good after all.

10-1-12-9-25-4-8-7-6-24-20-21-11-18-16-17. Probably should have left out 7 and 6, and maybe the SE section.

Two circuits of the Bassendean ride. Apparently I passed some frogs, but didn't recognise them.

Di2 charge (34119kms).

Road cycling 2:57:00 [3] 69.0 km (2:34 / km)
shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

Two rivers ride, avoiding the freeway footbridges mayhem by heading along South Perth foreshore to Douglas Ave, then Hayman Rd and Kent St into Waterford, joining the river path just before Clontarf. Cloudy and cool with South-Westerly, a few spots of rain now and then.

Around the river. Made a hash of alternative route because I didn't want to go over the footbridges at peak commuter/groupie hour. First up, I almost ended up on the freeway after turning right at Mill Point Rd lights, just realised at the last minute and turned onto a footpath. Next, I had to wait at the end of the path next to the golf course as several cars came off the freeway. The traffic guys had deployed two people there to tell cyclists to wait - why not give them a lollipop to stop the cars instead FFS?

Then, I must have misread the info on the DOT cycling pages, as I thought I could cross back over the freeway on the (much wider) Preston St footbridge, but that was closed too - and you only found that out after crossing the f-ing thing! Backtracked and pressed on to the last footbridge, but I could see a long line of bikes crossing, and a queue forming on the far side, so bugger that. Went on to Canning Bridge, but there I had to wait several minutes for the pedestrian crossing over the freeway exit. Phew - finally got to the Raffles and discovered that I'd somehow done 2kms more than the normal route.

The rest of the ride was largely uneventful, although I did get passed by a guy on an electric scooter near Subi Oval, but managed a re-pass after 50m.
