ahr:130 max:166 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 230

Sprint race at Narrogin High School, gps 2.78kms (don't know how the official distance was calculated).

Should not have made a mistake on my own map, but misread 7 and went into a cul-de-sac after the first passage instead of continuing through the second passage - Duh! cost about 20 secs. Also possibly took the wrong route choice to 3.

Walked up the hills to 10 and the finish, so my splits were slow. RG in 2nd place was unofficial, having put some of the controls out. Juniors did well, especially the winner, and some really young ones beating or getting very close to LostRichard (may have been the second course for a couple of them, though).

Orienteering race 1:46:24 [3] 4.6 km (23:08 / km)
ahr:108 max:162 shoes: Inov8 Arctic Claw

WA Long Champs at Avon Valley, GPS 8.9kms. Did almost 4kms while off and on the map searching for 2. This came about because I made yet another 'jump ahead of myself' error, compounded by running 45 degrees off direction from 1. I came to creek junction, and misidentified it as the one almost 1km NW, 400m S of 2. So I was actually nearly a km and a half SE of 2, and still heading NE, off the map. 30-odd minutes later I got back to the same point and realised what I'd done. No dramas on the rest of the course, except for being very slow, and 4 minutes missing the group of (much lower than they were in '88) earth mounds at 8 and having to come back from near 9.
