MetrO race at Claisebrook. A bit slow to catch on, so instead of looking for 10 controls to drop, I tried to count if there were 20 south of the freeway. Only got to 19, so figured I'd need at least one to the north. If only I'd bothered to count the 9 that were actually north. Since everybody else raced off to 1, I decided to go to 5, which was very poor, should have gone to 2 and then done the reverse route with a lot fewer others.
On the way to 11 (north of freeway) I recounted and realised how wrong this was. Briefly thought about crossing East Parade to 15, then south from there, but thankfully rejected that. Returned the way I'd come trying to pick which two controls in the south that I could drop; seemed to be a choice between 24 & 29, 28 & 29, or 28 & 8, but eventually decided on 28 & 4. While working this out I stuffed up the route from 20 to 30 and went up the wrong road. Much better after that, until having to go to 1 on the way to the finish sucked. Except for the breathing issue, which came on between 23 and 24, and stayed with me to the finish.
It appears most people went 1-5-10 (including some crossing OOB between 5 and 10) when 1-10-5 was the best way.
