Tuesday May 14 #

Road cycling 2:28:00 [3] 55.0 km (2:41 / km)
shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

To North Beach via freeway path, then down the coast to South Cottesloe and home via the rail path.

Some observations on e-rideables based on those I see every day, mainly on the various bike paths into the city:

100% of e-skateboards and single-wheel contraptions are illegal, as they all do way more than the allowed 25km/h. Nearly got taken out by one today doing skateboardy curves around a bend.

Around 40-50% of scooters have also had their speed regulator illegally adjusted to allow more than 25km/h. One with a secondary student in uniform passed me at Carine doing at least 40 (I was doing 30 at the time).

100% of non-pedelec (ie free-powered) bicycles also travel at more than 25. Many of these are almost as big as a Harley Davidson - surely they have to be registered as a motor-bike and not be allowed on bike paths.

Around 70% of all of the above, plus most cyclists on both normal and e-bikes travel at way more than the 10km/h allowed on footpaths (as opposed to designated bike paths).
