Orienteering race 48:43 [4] 4.6 km (10:35 / km)
ahr:134 max:167 shoes: Inov8 Arctic Claw

Day 2, gps 5.06kms. Reverse chasing start with 2 min interval, however my 2-min person (Ellie) didn't show but I knew the 4 fastest from yesterday were all there so hoped to keep them at bay.

Have realised that the Str8 is no good for me so dug out the Moscompass and was definitely able to stay on line much better. No mistakes, just much slower than the young guys. Managed to stay ahead of Edmund until 9, and almost stayed with him until the finish because he wasn't direct enough. Max came in about a minute later, but Rob and Russell both lost significant time so I ended up 3rd over the 2 days, and first Old Fart.

Sunday Jun 2 #

Orienteering race 1:01:38 [4] 4.5 km (13:42 / km)
ahr:125 max:167 shoes: Inov8 Arctic Claw

Day 1 of Winter Classic at Dryandra, gps 5.81kms.

Messed up 1, too far right before the breakaway, did correct but just missed it in low visibility and relocated in the very shallow gully 100m East. Lost 6 minutes. OK after that except for being slightly off-line and having to correct at the edge of circles at 2, 3, 4 and 5, losing some seconds at each. Didn't trust myself on a long compass leg to 7 so took the much longer road route and had to walk part of it. Edmund took 8 minutes off me, but admitted that he ran the straight route with Kellie. Spiked the tricky 8 (why was this on the M course? No real attack point and catching feature way beyond, plus the M leg to it was the reverse of my 8 to 9?). From 8 to 10 I was very slow through all the fallen timber.

Damage not too bad as Edmund lost at least 15 mins at 2 and I was within striking distance of the other OFs for day 2 which I knew would probably suit me better.
