Monday Apr 30

biking 20:00 [2]
bike back from nursing home. rode bus there, beautiful day but energy level has been extremely low. Going slow and easy seems to have its proper place.
'weight' training 35:00 [1]

Sunday Apr 29

biking warm up/down 15:00 [1]
church, friends house.
hiking 30:00 [1]
Wandering through neighborhood, cemetery and park w/ significant other. Looks like cemetery was started around 1800.

Saturday Apr 28

orienteering 20:00 [1]
jogging back to bus stop w/ michigan map
running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
warming up for 5k, from bus stop at other end of park
running race 21:45 [5]
5k @ Tower Grove Park. A little faster than a month ago over slightly more rolling route. Given all the things that have been popping, pulling and straining I'll take it!

Mile splits: 6:50, 7:06, 7:00+/-

Friday Apr 27

biking 1:00:00 [2]
errands
orienteering 30:00 [1]
walking and jogging in park w/ michigan maps. With magnifier AND with map a few inches from my face I can figure out the detail, but it really needs to be looked at from a distance to get the overall picture, esp. contours. Interesting conundrum.

Thursday Apr 26

yoga 30:00 [1]
biking 55:00 [3]
bus to meeting then bike to Laf. Sq. Park, a few laps, then home
orienteering intervals 15:00 [5]
sprint course
running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
warmup before sprint. my gluteus felt like someone punched it w/ a brass knuckle, ebuckley said it might very well be sciatica nerve. tried to work it out before sprint, but still feels sore and leg feels numb.
C • try lying on your back and hug... 2

Lafayette Park - Splits

Wednesday Apr 25

biking 1:20:00 [2]
bike shop to learn how to take it apart and put it back together, other errands.

Tuesday Apr 24

Note
today better than yesterday, since i dont seem permanently hobbled - last night hip hurt so much i wondered, but ok this morning! still sore and very tired.

Monday Apr 23

biking 38:00 [2]
to nursing home and back. grocery pack on way back.

Sunday Apr 22

Event: SLOC - S bar F Scout Ranch

paddling 1:15:00 [3]
some canoe carrying also. more later
C • canoe-O 3
biking 50:00 [2]
to fathers house (partial) and back
orienteering race 40:00 [3]
sprints at s-f. Very nice courses designed by ebuckley, glad that I did them even though somewhat hobbled by yesterdays run
C • JB 2

Saturday Apr 21

running race 2:22:00 [4]
Chubb 25k. Much slower than hoped. Races are for feedback, and here's the feedback: lose weight, go on longer tempo runs.
C • just a thought... 2
biking 1:25:00 [2]
back from Chubb, stopped at fathers house on way. friend gave me a ride there.

Friday Apr 20

biking 45:00 [2]
meeting

Thursday Apr 19

Note
slept 10 hours, and still tired and achey, so looks like its shaping up as a rest day.
C • CR #2 2

Wednesday Apr 18

yoga 30:00 [1]
'weight' training 15:00 [1]
while getting ready for meeting
biking 40:00 [3]
took starter bus, then ride thru south st. louis to and from meeting in gorgeous weather. would have ridden more, but leery of burning up too much capital in time and energy.

Tuesday Apr 17

yoga 15:00 [1]
biking 15:00 [2]
Visit to friends house. Had planned to do tempo run today but its going to be hard to get out of first gear.
running tempo 39:00 [4]
regular route but only to chippewa, chocolate and tea before run helped. Faster. speedwork kicking in.

to gate:8:16
9:48
9:58 (true tempo to this point, 3 min. faster than
regular training run)
10:47easy back from gate
biking 15:00 [3]
another visit to neighbors

Monday Apr 16

biking 15:00 [1]
easy ride back from nursing home - took bus there even tho its a beautiful day. biking is possible, even fun, when running seems out of the question, or at least very painful.

Sunday Apr 15

orienteering 6:00:00 [2]
Rest of night rogaine. Good training excercise. Lots more attention to map and modus operandi needed.

Somewhat surprised at poor relative point total. But points aren't always that big a deal, even tho i definetely have a competitive streak. And it was first night rogaine.

biking 1:30:00 [3]
back from camp after couple hours sleep. stopped for church in town, then rode back for lost jacket on dirt road.(without packs) then from Kirkwood train station to fathers house. Taking train was very pleasant.

Saturday Apr 14

orienteering 1:15:00 [2]
skipped the day rogaine to save energy for night event. did some jogging on the map to get feel for terrain, look at the river, etc.
orienteering 2:00:00 [3]
start of night rogaine
biking 1:00:00 [3]
biked in from the train station at knob noster with 2 packs, one on back and one in front propped up on my handle bars, then rode around in the campground and environs a little. Most of the rollers were fun but I got off on one big hill into the park and pretended I had to 'adjust something':)

running 2:00:00 [2]
Berryman trail maintenance/trail running while reading usgs.
bank signs were saying 23 on the way out, but after a mile on the trail it wasn't too bad.

Friday Apr 6

biking 30:00 [2]
to nursing home dwon watson. saddle still too low, amazing what difference that makes. and the seatpost on my other saddle is too short for this bike, and the seatpost that came with this bike has a beam saddle fitting. looks like more bike bucks are needed.

Thursday Apr 5

yoga 15:00 [1]
C • oops... 6
running 48:00 [3]
same run as yesterday, 1 min slower but feeling much better c-v and hamstring, thanks to stretching, and awareness of healing need via PG log?

+ 43 to chippewa
-4 to lansdowne (combined 18 Mar. 19)
+17 to chippewa
-1 to edge of park
+16 home
running 15:00 [1]
to friends house nearby, put new seat on but it was way too low. didnt have tool along to fix it, so rode w/ my knees scrunched up in my chest.

My regimen of occasional all-you-can-eat fruit buffets and bowl of oatmeal dinner seems to be paying off.
running 9:00 [4]
6 x 400
