biking 1:00:00 [3]
to and from JB park
field checking/mapping 1:30:00
Mostly wandering about in a huge field - lots of goldenrod. A little milkweed, an area of cat-o-nine tails, a little nest on top of a clump of weeds -i dont see that stuff a lot around here - maybe i dont look hard enough. There's a lot more going on at JB park than one would think - more orienteering potential too.

field checking/mapping 1:30:00
lots of mosquitoes to get me going, a quiet skunk i gave a wide berth, a lively skunk who made an aggressive posture, but then started to follow me when i murmered something nice to him (her?), and many deer. I noticed if i made kissing sounds at the deer that they didnt run away - they liked that.

It was dark when i got there, which gave me time to do my transition and get my bearings. There were some spectacular moments coming out of woods into the fog-laden fields in the reddish early light, and thats exactly what i'm hoping the courses will bring to the participants. The central fields and alternating woods/brush are really a quite pretty contrast. Just hope i can get the map updated enough to do it justice. Noticed that the contours have never been tuned, but probably wont be able to get to that in time.
biking 56:00 [3]
in more of a hurry to get something done, when direct route while it was still dark, then back on grants trail route
biking 40:00 [3]
then, to the nursing home to push wheelchairs.

Thursday Sep 20

biking 1:05:00
to and from JB park via roads west, grants trail, then roads south
field checking/mapping 2:00:00
time spent actually on the move. I thought the aerial photo cured the map of all ills, but the amount of work to do on the ground is huge. I'm going to focus on getting the main central area about 80% right for the meet, and even so I only finished about a fifth of the checking today. Not to mention the drafting.

Tuesday Sep 18

stretching 10:00 [1]
at airport to pick up father, trying to get my shoulder range of motion back
biking 28:00 [3]
took the cross bike to a couple of errands via the park/gravel - felt a lot stronger. i had really thought i was long-term cooked, but apparently not.
running 18:00 [2]
jog at sunset, left lower calf muscle is still tight - now i remember why i was biking so much.
stretching 10:00 [1]

Monday Sep 17

yoga 15:00 [1]
biking 15:00 [2]
took cross bike through park to recycling and walgreens. the legs seem good, but the cardiovascular system still feels tired. but i liked it. saturday i was convinced i would not get on a bike again for at least a week.
