Note
SATURDAY LONG RUN...nope. tired, hip sore, friends dog is not doing well - 16 year old golden retriever, staying in close for support.
C • karma 6
biking 12:00 [2]
bike to neighbors and back, not hat no gloves.

Friday Jan 25

biking 1:05:00 [3]
to nursing home, then to fathers house and back. handwarmers worked well. As well as i was dressed, there were times when i could not tell how cold it was, though it was 14 when i started.
walking 40:00 [1]
wheeling chairs.

Thursday Jan 24

yoga 35:00 [1]
amazing how scrunched up and immobile i am at the start.
Note
PSYCHED about 'Master the Met' stair climb in March which I've signed up for, to benefit the American Lung Association (tobacco for kids, lung disease, air pollution!) YEAH! At first i thought the 42 stories would be a snap, something like a mile run maybe. But to go all out, yes, i'm going to have to train.

Please SPONSOR me (AND YOU, BY THE WAY). go to www.masterthemet.com and you can easily donate online. All you have to do is click on Sponsor a Climber and then search by my name. (Rudy Schwarz) Every dollar helps me reach my (?) (OUR?) goal.
C • did it ! 3
aerobics 23:00 [4]
8 sets of 8 x explosive running up 8 basement steps, (ok there were 9) light jogging, kicking skipping in between

then 100 each skip-ropes, jumping jack, and cross country lunges
'weight' training 20:00 [2]
3 sets of 6, pushups (very hard, very pathetic), 35# bicep curl, triceps (w/ chair)
Note
Balaclava came today - just in time for bike ride tommorrow morning! Think I'll break out some hand warmers too.

Wednesday Jan 23

yoga 25:00 [1]
is to the body as church is to the soul. though it all certainly works together.
biking 1:00:00
tri bike to bike shop, to get new bar tape to put up for sale
C • Are you selling your tri bike? 2
running 21:00 [3]
Thought I'd better get a little run in before sunset ushered in the cold. About 8min/mile tempo factoring little sprints on the hills, surges, climbing over the chain link fence and crossing Hampton tice in traffic.

Tuesday Jan 22

Note
I thought there was something wrong w/ my glasses i.e. twisted or bent,, but yesterday I noticed that my left eye (left evrything!) is considerably weaker than my right. I'll probably go get an eye exam and new glasses, but first I am trying shutting my right, and having my left do the work, just for a couple of minutes at a time.

There is already a very noticable improvement in my left eye. Kind of like one-legged pedalling, etc.?
biking 30:00 [2]
just to get out into the sun a bit before sunset, park recycling and friends house.

Monday Jan 21

biking 1:30:00
Holiday - to nursing home, to bus stop at metro station, from park n ride lot to midway trail parking, then back to p-+-ride lot, and home from metro station
walking 30:00 [1]
pushing the wheelchairs
orienteering 1:20:00 [2]
as part of my long run for the week, castelwood flats to warm up. Felt very relaxed but would have been a decent pace on a local meet green course. Reason? Because it was part of a trail run, where even 11 and 12 minute miles would be decent o pace. 55 min includes some run in time.

then chubb 'flats' at end of long run - no compass, using earth shapes of which there are surprisingly many to orient map 25 min
running 1:10:00 [3]
mostly with map contact - from secret midway bike parking spot up into west tyson on chubb and quarry trail loop...made it up from the flats to the picnic table without stopping - 372 feet according to the contours. not quite as high and steep as the Met, but then it doesnt have handrails either!

2.5 hours total running - hope this qualifies as my weeks long run. Up from the 2 hour last week. Maybe shoot for 3 hour next week.
Note
wore running shorts for run, but wool cap, glove liners, short and long technical shirt. Warm on top, free legs seems to suit me. Never really felt much of an urge to add or subtract.
C • Good job!!! 3

Sunday Jan 20

biking 10:00 [1]
to church
yoga warm up/down 25:00 [1]
stretching 25:00 [2]
core exercises
'weight' training 25:00 [2]
