running race 5:51 [5]
shoes: adidas adios boost

does it need to be said that this is really bad? like at Palm Desert, I felt ok at the start and then it felt like I was carrying an extra load of bricks. And like PD, after the race, I had a coughing fit (hours later still bothering me) where one spot in my bronchs feels very dry and raw - only at race speed over a 1500 distance. Interesting - starting to wonder if this might be a medical problem.

At any rate, running has been tanking. Time to step back and take a long hard look.

On a positive note, had a conversation w David Schmansky, national champion in a number of events, though second in age group this time. Said he had never run, never, not even jogged, until his son suggested they do a half marathon about 5 years ago! He then did some 5ks in the 18's, and then somebody suggested a senior games, and he found out he could win everything in the 400, 800, 1500. What a story. Also saw Nolan Shaheed - it was cool seeing some of these inspirational role models I had read about here at trackside..
