I've been waiting all year to have another crack at this as I didn't want to interrupt my distance training until the marathon was over. Very surprised with the result. 500+ miles of running this year and I'm no faster over 1500 meters than I was 2 years ago. I guess speed and distance are 2 different running disciplines. The former is not my forte and never has been. I do however seem to be able to handle the latter reasonably well.
