shoes: Sala Runner 2
Miami Univ. East Quad Natural Areas, 70% trail, 30% off. checking a couple map correction issues and possible control locations for a future event.
orienteering race 1:18:00 [3]*** 6.2 km (12:35 / km) +270m 10:20 / km
17c weight:161lbs shoes: Jalas hi-top O' shoes
Night-O Green course at Camp Friedlander. A few easy road run legs, but cedarcreek set some challenging route choices. I actually stopped dead in my tracks for several seconds deciding which way to go from 8 to 9. Tough choice! The published course length was 5.9 km, but that included connection lines across uncrossable water features on 2 legs. Measuring the shortest legal straight line, I got 6.2.

Thursday Nov 15

trail running 39:22 [3]4.2 mi (9:21 / mi)
weight:160lbs shoes: Icebugs
Miami Univ. Natural Areas: East, Pine and Reinhart loops

Wednesday Nov 14

trail running 44:17 [3]5.0 mi (8:51 / mi)
shoes: Sala Runner 2
Miami University Natural Areas - 2 circuits of Bachelor Preserve East and Pine loops. Started out strong, but not really pushing for anything special. Checked my time at half-way thru the first loop and saw it was the fastest, by far, in a long time. Pushed harder on the second half of the loop, and set my best single loop time since July 1, 2000 by over a minute. Eased off considerably for the second loop, but it was still a very good time (fastest 2nd loop since I began computerizing records in May, 2000), and my 2-loop total was over 3 minutes better than any 2-loop run since June 1, 2000. Really felt good. Temperature was perfect, about 14C. Trail was a little wet in places and I might have lost a few seconds to slight slips and caution; Icebugs might have been a better shoe choice.
