MVOC "New Carlisle Nursery O'". Swept the 6 hour mini-rogaine course in just under 4 hours, but that was only good enough for 5th place in the 45 and over males. Temperature started in the mid 20's and gradually climbed above freezing, so frozen ground for most of the event, but it started to get muddy in places toward the end. Most of the race was through two large nurseries, with a few crossings of recently harvested corn and bean fields, a small patch of woods and trails, a jaunt through the streets of New Carslisle. I estimate I actually ran a little over 27 km. In typical Larry Berna (course setter) fashion, a couple of the controls were really hidden, which accounts for at least 5 minutes of my time. The tiny (as mapped) stream on the way to my first control proved to be the only one on my entire route that was too wide to jump and/or not frozen, resulting in a thoroughly soaked foot and a little sand in the shoe even before #1. Route & splits coming soon...
