orienteering race 3:57:40 [4] * 15.0 mi (15:51 / mi)
48c weight:159lbs shoes: A W Journey 2

Chagrin Falls 4 hour urban score orienteering. Mileage for now is a very rough low end estimate. A bicyclist who had a somewhat similar route on the bike version recorded 21+ miles on his odometer, which is more in line with what it felt like I did. The sun was out, and as temperatures climbed to the upper 70's (~25C), heat and dehydration entered into the game. If I had forced myself to skip a few more 1 and 2 point controls early, I probably could have picked up a few more high value ones at the end.

48 of 67 possible controls, 163 of 206 possible points, if I am calculating right. Most of the 19 that I missed were low value ones near the start/finish. I did make a very good decision to skip #35 at around the 2:30 mark. If I'd gone for it as planned, getting back on time would have become very tight and I possibly would have sacrificed more points.

walking 2:00:00 [1] 8.0 km (15:00 / km)
weight:157lbs

Misc. yard and garden work. Included moving about 40 wheelbarrow loads of mulch. Average round trip exceeded 200 meters, hence at least 8 km of walking. Plus shovelling (about 5 snow-shovels per barrow-load), pulling weeds, digging a little sod, etc. Actual time of course was way over 2 hours. I've been doing a lot of this type of stuff the last couple weeks, but not logging it. Today's work reprented maybe 20% of the nearly 2 truckloads I've moved so far. Probably will need one more load next week to finish off.

In past years, I've used the tractor and cart for most of the mulching, but so far this year, I've done 100% wheelbarrow. I don't think it takes too much longer. Cart holds more per trip, but I can push the wheelbarrow almost as fast and dump exactly where needed without maneuvering or shovelling some of the load out of the cart. And it is definitely better exercise and has saved a bit of gas and emissions.

Tree swallows are almost ready to fledge from the nest box by the mulch pile. Its been fun watching the parents bringing food, although they started dive-bombing me the day I mulched around the plantings by the nest box!
